Holy cow! What's not to love about Casey's?! The food is amazing, the restaurant is always clean, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff always makes you feel like family from the moment you walk in the door. The only two slightly negative things I could say is that they only accept cash/checks as payment, and they do not serve and Coke or Pepsi products. It's strictly homemade lemonade or tea. But, they are notorious for rounding you total down to the nearest dollar. This is obviously a mom & pop shop with strong ties to the community. You can see all the local businesses have been allowed to put up their signs on the inside. From about 4' down, the walls are actually chalkboards, and there is a huge bucket of chalk at the front for you to grab and doodle on the walls. There are several pictures of little league ball teams that they support, and framed articles about the restaurant. And there is this sad little TV up near the counter that looks like it was made in the 70's that always has some type of movie playing on it. The best way I can describe how amazing this place is would be to tell you about our first visit to check it out. My wife and I walk in and make it up to the counter. The person behind the counter takes our order, and as I am reaching for my card they inform me that I can't use card. Then, they immediately reassure me by saying "Don't worry about it though, one of our regulars left us a $100 tip in the jar and we decided to use it to pay for the orders of the customers that came in afterwards. So your order is free for today, complements of our other customer." Let that sink in for a moment. These people got a $100 tip as a thank you for their hard work and service, and they decided the best way to use it was to immediately give it back to their customers. If you are ever in Winder around lunchtime, head straight to Casey's and...
Read moreAn amazing lunch at a homely, welcoming place. Just dropped by Casey's while passing through Winder on a work-related trip, and boy, was it worth the 5 minute detour! The owners are gregarious, warm and large-hearted, as are the locals who swear by this cozy little joint. The restaurant had a lively buzz when my friend and I stepped inside, and we were lucky to find ourselves a table. We ordered a cheeseburgers and fries, alongside some crinkle cut fries, to go with the unlimited lemonade/ice tea. The beef patty was moist, juicy and tender, served between an even softer bun. The shoestring fries were cripsy on the outside, melt-in-your-mooth smooth within, and were perfectly seasoned! The lemonade tasted fresh and was very refreshing as well. What made our meal even better was the kindness and consideration shown to us by the owner when we realised that the establishment only accepts cash/checks instead of the card we naively brandished. "Our concern is to make sure you are well fed, you can pay later, don't worry about it". Such concern and love for the customer is rare, and I thought nothing could be a truer representation of the famous Southern hospitality I have heard so much about in my time at Georgia. I will definitely come back, and would HIGHLY recommend this place and its owners to all those looking for a hearty meal, cooked with love and care, and served with an extra large side dose of open-heartedness. As one of the owners quipped when we professed our thanks, This is Winder, sir. You're...
Read moreThis restaurant is located in downtown Winder. We came around 1 PM and could not find parking in front of the store or the parking lot next to the restaurant. We circled around for a bit until a car left and we parallel parked.
This is truly a hole in the wall restaurant. Very old building, the sign in the front is missing, and they did not accept cards of any kind. They do accept cash, venmo, apple pay or cashapp. They have specialty burgers, but with no description of what exactly goes the burger. I ordered the Hells Burger, not knowing was going on it. Looking back, I wish I would have asked the cashier what all came on the burger.
The cashier looked to be a teenager. She wasn't friendly or rude. She lacked basic customer service and didn't smile. Our food came out fast and we took it to go. By the time we go home, the fries were so soggy. The burger was "meh." Not impressed at all. People rave that this place has the best burgers in town, but honestly my burger at Wendy's the other day had more flavor than the Hells Burger. It's honestly a glorified greasy burger.
This place wasn't terrible, but I wouldn't come out of my way to...
