Caribou Coffee — Restaurant in Woodstock

We have been looking forward to this location’s opening for months!

My husband and I have been driving to Barrett Lakes for our ground coffee once a month since it opened. I love Fireside! It’s my favorite coffee and has been worth the 25 minute drive, but getting our coffee 8 minutes from home has been an appealing idea. We think the drive-thru/walk-up idea is cute (but we’re a little sad not to have a cute place to study or hang inside). Eventually Noonday walking trail will extend right by and foot traffic will increase.

As the grand opening approached and the parking lot & drive through were never repaired (it needs more than a re-paving) we grew concerned and wondered if this was a corporately owned store or a franchise.

If this location intends to compete with its big S competitor across the street (and we hope it can) it really should invest in a better atmosphere - this can be done if they never intend to offer indoor seating with things like a smoothly paved entrance and parking lot, professional landscaping, and for goodness sake millennial/prison grey had its moment - at least warm it up to griege, if not something more aesthetically appealing entirely.

It doesn’t seem as if any professional designers were consulted in the remodel of this old “Checker’s” building into a cute coffee spot, but it actually does have a lot of potential.

The real kicker - we went to the grand opening and the didn’t have any Fireside. I hope they will order it in.

I finally stopped and tried the coffee, as I was so excited that they opened one up on my route to work. I got the S’mores Mocha Blended coffee. It was really good! I also got the chorizo burrito and that was amazing, it was so hot and it has potatoes inside with the chorizo. I would return for the alone. I noticed I was shaking some, 3 hours later from the coffee and had to stop and eat again. Not something that normal happens from my other regular coffee spot. We tried the new caribou and were quite disappointed with the low quality of the food and drinks. The cold brew/iced coffee is pretty alright but nothing too special. The hot latte tastes like buttered popcorn it’s kinda gross. And the food options all seem to be frozen and microwaved before served. The prices were quite high for low quality products.
