I'm not sure why this place has 4-star average reviews here, unless the locals are rating it highly just because it's their favorite hang-out. I'll start by saying that the staff is GREAT!! Good service, friendly people -- and that right there is worth a LOT. The atmosphere was also very pleasing — nice decor, good layout, good lighting, comfortable seating, etc.
Sadly, all that aside, I felt like we were eating out of a Sysco truck. The food and drinks are average to sub-par.
We tried the fried green bean appetizers, which are supposed to be a "customer favorite." Maybe it was the regular cook's off day, but the green beans were battered and fried -- to death. The over-fried batter left that horrible taste in your mouth, where you can’t taste anything but burned batter. If you stripped off the batter, the beans were okay… but that defeats the purpose of the order.
My wife ordered a pizza -- which is supposed to be one of the main items they're known for. For a 10" pizza I would expect the crust/bottom to be a bit crispy -- at least enough to hold some tension... but the bottom of this pizza was very soft and droopy. The bread was cooked, just not crispy at all. There was a bit of oil on the bottom, so I’m pretty sure they intended it to get a bit crispy — it just didn’t. Unfortunately, the oil they use left a slightly off-putting taste that affected the rest of the pizza. Overall a decent pizza, but I’ve had equal at a hundred different places.
For my meal, I decided to try a double-order of their Large, meaty, bone-in wings. Unfortunately, they get these wings (and many other items) from Sysco — so they’re the same pre-packaged (and pre-sauced) wings you get an a thousand other restaurants that want to add “wings” to their appetizer menu. Not great, not horrific, but certainly uneventful. The sauce was dry (which is common for Sysco wings) and tasted like more of a dry-rub at times. We ordered an alternate sauce (Bourbon BBQ, or something like that) that was really tasty. Sadly, a super tasty sauce doesn’t make up for the lame Sysco wings. I expected large, meaty, bone-in wings… but Sysco doesn’t sell those. Instead, I received ten VERY small wings… that looked even smaller when served on the plate… as there were massive spaces around the wings where you could see the plate (that’s how small the wings were). A bit misleading for a menu description.
The chips, salsa, and queso were good. The queso I’ve had before (Sysco, again) and tastes a lot like the Tostitos queso you can find in stores. Sadly, the chips they serve with it are extremely thin and tend to break off often in the queso.
I'm not sure what the other local restaurants are like, so this place very well could be the best of the lot -- I don't know. Again -- the staff was super-great, and the atmosphere was really nice as well. Clean restaurant with a pleasing upscale look. Sadly, all that aside, I felt like I was eating out of a...
Read moreWe came with a party of 3 and was immediately escorted to a booth with no wait. While we were waiting for our waitress we looked around. I counted 10 t.v.'s surrounding us, all on different channels muted with country much softly playing from the overhead speakers. There was also pictures and memorabilia of sport stars and singers. We saw Garth Brook's jacket, a very young Tiger Woods and Mohammed Ali, Mickey Mantle's picture was in there. The waitress seemed really nice and energetic when she came to take our drink orders and my what a menu! We looked at both sides trying to choose what we were going to have. When she came with our drinks we were ready to order. She didn't write down anything which looked quite impressive. We ordered the fried pickles for our appetizer with reg. ranch, then I ordered the Louie's Club with fries, my daughter chose the All American cheeseburger with fries and my son-in-law ordered the salmon plate with sweet potato fries and okra for his sides. The waitress brought our appetizer and asked me again what I ordered (maybe she should have written it down). The fried pickles were quite spicy and hot out of the kitchen. After awhile she brought my daughter and my orders then asked my son-in-law what his sides were..really? So we were able to start eating and he still had to wait. He got his order halfway through our meal. The waitress was great at filling our drinks, she seemed to be the only waitress working for lunch and there was probably only 2 more tables besides ours. The food came out really hot and very tasty and filling. We all had to have take home containers. The restrooms were spacious with even more pictures on the walls. The only problem I had here was with our waitress's memory, though she was nice and smiling running from one table to the other. Someone just needs to get this young girl an ordering pad and try to get out the whole...
Read moreHello everyone...(like I'm a food critic or something, lol). I've always liked Louie's. Tho I dont get there very often, I've never had a terribly bad experience. The waitress (Harley) was quick to tend to us...since it was close to 9pm, that was kind of a big deal!! Harley was very attentive and kinda cute, if u ask me. I did flirt a little, little bit. If I hadn't have been with a couple of friends, I probably would have given her a little more attention, but nothing out of line, lol!! I've ordered the chili cheeseburger there before...and both times it was good!! Tho this time, there was a little more slathering of chili on top...probably since it was a little late in the evening. Last time, I ordered the fries with it, expecting the chili to drip onto the fries, lol!! But it didnt happen because of the smaller amount of chili on the burger. This time, I ordered the mac n cheese instead of the fries...not expecting the extra slathering of chili, lol!! All in all...a good experience!! If anyone (management) who works at the Louie's in yukon is reading this, then u should do something nice for Harley...the waitress. She was excellent and deserves to hear it from...
