Among the Michelin places to eat in Hanoi, this was the only spot we visited more than once.

In New York, there are banh mi spots all over, but none with the lightness and richness this spot offers. Ordered the Ham, Pate, and egg sandwiches. Has cilantro for non cilantro eaters. For a drink, we got the kumquat mint. Has a nice tart freshness that’s a good sip between savory sandwich bites. Pictures included for your own assessment 🤤

More importantly thou, the owners. On the packaging is a picture of their son. With google translate, you can communicate with anyone in Hanoi.

At first, we just walked past the shop and its smiling owner, as we weren’t looking for a bánh mì. But after a few moments, we couldn’t resist the owner’s charm and decided to give it a try. That first bite was unforgettable—it was absolutely delicious. Every bánh mì we tried elsewhere afterward always brought us back to that first one, and none could ever quite compare. This many 5 star reviews for a reason. We had the pate, ham, sausage and egg Banh mi and an egg and cheese one, both very good, especially for it being 8pm. Each cost 30,000. Besides the great food, the owner is extremely kind and thoughtful, checking with us if we wanted spicy sauce, cucumbers, etc. After we finished eating, we sat for a while just hanging out and he brought us two glasses of tea for free.
