Avoid this hotel at all costs if looking for a 4-star, hygienic place to stay! This is NOT a 4-star property! The photos are completely misleading. The "spa" isn’t on-site, they just advertise one a few streets away so it should not be part of the facilities. As with many places in Vietnam they seem to be farming review ratings such that they are artificially inflated. We’ve stayed at much better places in Hanoi and across Vietnam, this place was a big disappointment especially when considering value for money.
The place was dirty, sticky, and had a stale smell everywhere. No AC in the tired elevators and hallways, not ideal in summer heat. We stayed on the 7th floor right under the restaurant and our room reeked of fried oil from the kitchen. The bathroom had mould, and the AC blew out a nasty musty smell. The bedsheets whilst clean were old, ratty and stained. The room next door to us was being defumigated for some reason. Frankly, the whole place requires a refresh.
In advance of arrival, we asked about early check-in via text if the room was available and they never mentioned extra fees. But when we arrived at 6.30am, the manager had told the receptionist to charge us the FULL PRICE for a whole night, though if we waited until 10am we could check-in early for free! Given we were very tired we paid 100%, but it was strange that they wanted the full amount for just 4 extra hours. Nobody then came to clean and make up the room later that morning (we were out by 930am) which is what we would expect having paid for an extra night. We appreciate given the amount of early arrivals via flights/night trains it is acceptable to charge extra for early check-in even if the room is free, and other Vietnamese hotels have us charged 50% of a night’s rate for instance (some provided it free of charge too), which seems like a much more sensible policy.
Previously, we also stayed at a 5* hotel in Hanoi and whilst vs Eliana’s purported 4* it is not fair to compare it - the amount we paid for early check-in and one night worked out the same for both! So this is a warning to others wanting a slightly plusher stay to look elsewhere, there are many...

During our travels through Vietnam, we encountered many warm and welcoming people – but the Eliana Signature Hotel stood out with its truly exceptional service and kindness.
From the moment we arrived, we felt at home: Linh greeted us with a big smile, explained Hanoi to us using a map, and included our personal interests in her recommendations. We shared a lot of laughs right away – such a great start to our stay.
Even though we only stayed for one night, we wanted to use the laundry service. The team encouraged us to go ahead, and our laundry was returned the same evening. Two single socks were missing at first – but instead of dismissing it, they reviewed their own photos of the laundry we submitted, contacted the laundry service, and just a short while later, we had the socks back. That level of commitment is truly rare.
When we checked out, the warm atmosphere continued. Linh and Joy asked about our next stop – Cát Bà – and Joy shared her own experiences, which turned out to be very helpful. Even after we left, Joy messaged us offering help with organizing a cooking class. Incredible!
The room was small, as we had booked it that way, but it was stylish, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. Breakfast was great too – again, the whole team made sure it became part of the overall experience.
Linh and Joy are mentioned here as wonderful examples, but we want to thank the entire team. Everyone we met was incredibly kind, professional, and made us feel truly welcome. Thank you all – we’ll always remember this short but...
Read moreOverrated hotel. I do not understand how this hotel can have excellent reviews on all platforms. It definitely doesn't affect the ratings. |When we arrived, we were told they didn't have the room for us because we had booked at the last minute. They wanted to move us to a different hotel, which was much cheaper and dated. After we told the manager we would just take the room in another hotel if we got a suite which would match the price we paid, they somehow found the room for us. We booked the room with a city view. We got a very smelly room with the stair room. We paid extra for the room with the view as I need a window in the room. The manager told us it was the issue on the booking side, not the hotel foul. However, the hotel doesn't have a website and sells the rooms only via booking sites, all have listed very similar types of rooms. They gave us another room (just noted that in the beginning, they didn't have any for us, and now it is a second room). Again, it didn't have a street view, but at least it didn't smell horrible, and it was quite. The breakfast was a disaster. Save money and your stomach. Old pastries, old bread, old fruits. As I am reviewing hotels around the world, I was training to get some more information about the hotel. It changed its name recently (I guess because of its bad reputation). It was Oriana Hotel before, which was 3* not 4*. However, I don't know why they wanted to send us to a different hotel, and suddenly, they had at least two rooms available. It looks like a scam for tourists to me....
