One thing I’ve learned in my many, many months spent all over Vietnam is that the best coffee shops in this beautiful country are without exception, always down little hallways, alleyways, and / or up sketchy stairs. I’ve found these shops in little dark alleyways in Saigon, around dark corners in Hoi An and now down skinny, unassuming hallways and up narrow stairways here in Hanoi.

Let me tell you about C.O.C. If you’re looking for a quick, mediocre cup of coffee you won’t find it here. If this is what appeals to you, go to one of the many big chain shops. There are plenty of those to be had in Hanoi. But if you’re looking for some fun, just finding this place can be an adventure. An adventure that leads to a cozy little shop, where the owner and his small family of staff are dedicated and passionate about serving up some wonderfully curated coffees and other assorted coffee drinks.

The owner of this little gem is as cool as they come. And his passion for coffee has taken him all over Vietnam, where he has spent many years developing close relationships with the coffee farmers from whom his meticulous selection of beans are curated.

In short this is a little coffee shop for true coffee lovers. If you want a quick, unsatisfying cup of coffee, do the rest of us a favor and stick with Highlands or Phuc Long.
