AVOID LUA SPA AT ALL COSTS! A NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE IN HANOI
From the moment we stepped into Lua Spa, it was clear we'd made a grave mistake. Tucked away on a street that sounds like a construction site meets a rock concert, any hope for relaxation evaporated instantly. The noise was so unbearable that even with the door shut, the blaring band outside felt like they were performing inside the massage room. I should have known better, perhaps, given the location, and the fact that they don't accept credit cards.
But the noise and payment issues were nothing compared to the appalling service. The masseuses seemed to view our session as their personal social hour. Constant giggling and chatter amongst themselves made it impossible to unwind. One masseuse, in particular, appeared to be in a world of her own. For a solid 20 minutes, she was clearly daydreaming, barely making contact and simply going through the motions. It was an insult to the very idea of a professional massage.
To add insult to injury, after this so-called massage, the masseuse didn't even bother to wipe the oil off our legs! We were left feeling greasy and neglected.
Lua Spa is an absolute disaster. Save your money and your sanity – go anywhere else. This...

This is typical for these places as space comes at a premium so they need to maximize whatever space they can get in order to compete with all the other places. Unless you go to a pricier spa, curtains it shall be. They give you basically a rating card which kind of tricks you into tipping more. They ask you how your massage was, and if you choose great, 10 out of 10, or something similar, they’ll wonder why you tipped so low. Accordingly to how much I paid,...
Read moreLua Spa was my favorite massage spa in Hanoi! It was very near to my hotel so I walked past every day and Thu (the sweet lady at the entry) greeted me every time. During my four day visit, I stopped in every day for either a foot massage or a full body massage. Whatever time I had available, they were able to accommodate. When you are in the Old Quarter, I highly recommend visiting Lua Spa. Make sure to ask for Von or Dieu. Both ladies are excellent therapists with the perfect amount of pressure (I prefer deep tissue but they can adjust to your preference) and also very friendly. I will definitely come back whenever I...
