After two weeks in Vietnam, this was the only restaurant that disappointed us. It was a beautiful place to watch a massive thunderstorm, but that is the only good thing I can say about it. It was expensive and low quality.
Service was disappointing, practically non-existent, and the food was almost as bad. The pork meatballs with the bún chá weren't cooked through, the other pork was poor quality, and the beef pho tasted like it had a cup of salt in it (I LOVE salt, and it was too salty for me).
Even worse, both the food and drinks were basically North American prices (115,000 VND for a can of Hanoi Lager, 3-6x the cost of anywhere else). And we're pretty sure one of our members got mild food poisoning from here.
We were overall pretty happy with the Bendecir Hotel and their breakfast buffet, but the Pine & Dine Skybar was the biggest disappointment of our trip.
Edit: I stand by my original review, but I have increased it to 2 stars because the owner got in touch to apologize, assure us that they are working to resolve the issues we experienced, and offer us a refund for our meal. We remain disappointed in our experience that night, but we appreciate Mr Pham's gesture and we will give his Skybar another chance the next time we...
Read moreThe views are great, and the wraparound bar is great for looking out over the city. We came up from the hotel (where we stayed several nights and very much enjoyed) as it was torrential rain outside. The vibes are great, but that’s about the extent of it. Do note that this review is primarily for the food and not for drinks.
Compared to any other dining experience in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, this fell short. It was overpriced, as you could easily get Michelin-grade food for less than half the cost.
Sadly, my pho was overly salty. After a long day of travelling I probably benefitted from the electrolytes, but it was nearly intolerable. My mango drink was totally fine.
Plating/presentation was nice, but it masked the disappointment of the dish. My partner’s food was also underwhelming: chewy/tough meat.
It was also the most expensive meal we had between Hanoi and Hoi An, which added to the letdown. Convenient location, great views, chill vibes, but don’t come...
Read moreA must - if only for the view! This restaurant and bar is situated above the Bendecir Hotel and overlooks the entire city of Hanoi! It covers the whole rooftop of the hotel and is in two parts with the lift in the middle. On this occasion we opted for the quieter part of the restaurant and ordered some food and drinks. We ordered the Banh Xeo (Southern Pancakes), Deep Fried Spring Rolls and some Garlic Bread. First out was the Spring Rolls and they were unfortunately cold. Next out was the Pancakes and they were slightly warmer but definitely not how they should be served and the garlic bread was dry and just average. The staff were really nice and attentive, it was just the food that let us down on this occasion. It wasn’t lost on us that the bar is the primary focus and that the view is the main attraction so we would definitely recommend for drinks above Hanoi - we would just skip the food if...
