Yep It happened to me — you can see similar reviews on here and the ones on Google.||||I came in and was greeted with confusion — they (David and Andrew) told me that actually they were full and the (deluxe) room I booked wasn’t available . Here were the excuses :||“For some reason Expedia and Booking said our rooms were available when you booked them but they were not. And actually it did not give us your email or your phone number so we couldn’t contact you.” Then they offered to give me a stay in a different hotel, Sonata Premier, the address is on 21 P. Bát Đàn. ||||Seeing how every hotel ever has always printed out a sheet that says the booking site, email, and phone number based on how you input on Expedia I wonder how this is Expedia’s fault? How can you not contact a client for almost 2 months? He proceeded to tell me that hotel is still in the old quarter , when looking at the map, it clearly wasn’t. ||||I told them I had plans arranged for pick up from this hotel, and then one of the men (after being on the phone) said, “ OK you can stay in a room here for one night and then find a different hotel”||||At this point, I felt like I was being further tricked, he showed me the pictures on agoda— nothing like the room I booked in Ja Cosmo . So I asked for a refund , he (David) insisted I can stay for a night. ||||Meanwhile I saw a family had arrived , and the other man was starting to say the same things to them. And I noticed once I had left.. well, it seems like that family checked in after all? ||||This is right between Christmas and NYE, so you can imagine the panic at the low availability and finding a hotel at 9:30PM after coming off a flight. ||||I have no doubt the two men (David and Andrew) up front are kind people, but the business practise is awful, it looks like they’re booking rooms of the other hotel through this one. Sonata Hotel isn’t on booking or Expedia, it’s only on Agoda. In addition, based on facilities , don’t believe on booking or here that this is 4-star hotel. The reviews from last month and half a year ago in...
Read moreHad a family room booked for 4 people which wasn’t good in the slightest. It had a double bed, a single bed and a small sofa which even the shortest person in our group (me) could barely fit on & it was super uncomfortable. We were only given one key between the 4 of us which was highly impractical, and our request for another key was denied as they only had one key.. unbelievable. It was clear that the family room was designed for 3, as there were only 3 of everything in the room - 3 towels, 3 waters and not even a duvet/blanket for the person sleeping on the sofa. Advertising this family room as a booking for 4 was clearly just greed on their part. The staff collectively seemed friendly, however I particularly found Brian quite irritating. As soon as we stepped foot into the hotel, even prior to checking in, it seemed that he persistently tried to sell to us whatever he could and he recommended food places to us or activities where he quite blatantly got commission. Every time we walked past him, he would stop us and start a conversation which would always lead to him trying to sell us stuff like tours, transport etc. I understand it’s a business and he has to make his money, however it was such an annoyance and we dreaded passing reception each and every time because we knew what was coming. It didn’t help that we had to wait so long each time to use the single elevator in the hotel, even sometimes around 5 minutes, which meant we would be inevitably approached with Brian’s next sales venture. Hopefully to other guests or guests in the future, the hotel is more welcoming and lets their guests just get on with their day rather than jumping at every chance to make a sale. Final notes, the breakfast buffet was very simple with little option but the noodle soup was decent. The location of the hotel near the lake and old quarter was perfect though! I’m grateful we only stayed one night - I’m not sure our group could put up with it for...
Read moreABSOLUTE WASTE OF MONEY. ROCK HARD BED. UNCLEAN AND INCOMPETENT STAFF.
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights. We booked the Suite with Jacuzzi option. Our room on arrival had multiple clumps of black long hair in the bathroom and throughout the bedroom. There was also dried toothpaste on the ground in-front of the vanity.
We went down to reception to ask for this to be cleaned whilst we went out. We got back, and the receptionist said it got cleaned but the hair was still there when we inspected the room. We then asked again, for it to be cleaned. AGAIN, when we arrived back the hair was still there. The cleaners apparently cleaned the bathroom but how could they do this if they didn’t even lift up the wet towel that was on the ground in the bathroom that had not moved when we arrived back to the hotel.
We were then offered a 10% discount and assurance (after third time asking) that it would be cleaned “thoroughly”. We AGAIN found multiple black hair throughout the bedroom and bathroom. Finally, after the FOURTH time was the room cleaned. Not great, but at least the hair was gone.
We asked for more of a discount but staff refused as the manager wasn’t on, and asked us to discuss with the manager tomorrow but we could not do this as we were leaving tomorrow.
This place is a waste of money. Also the shower went cold after 10mins. The shower would pool with water so you’re standing in about 5cm of your own shower water as the drains don’t work. This would also overflow into the bathroom and spill in-front of the toilet so then you have to go on the toilet your feet are all wet.
Occasionally the water pressure would stop completely so you couldn’t even wash your hands after the toilet.
Bed was ROCK hard. My boyfriend and I no joke have bruises on the side of our hips when we woke up .
Also, I booked this place on booking.com but the reservation got cancelled on booking.com (intentionally) so I can’t review...
