What a delight! Such a friendly and welcoming family run business whose passion for customer satisfaction knows no bounds.
It's a little hard to spot from the road because there's just a small sign out front. You'd go through a small alleyway and up a staircase which opens up into a common room with a well-run kitchen immediately to the right.
The menu is abundant for both vegan and non vegan patrons. Don't get too excited and order too much as we did because they also offer a braised tofu in tomato based dish with steamed jasmine rice and a big bowl of fresh herbs on the house. It was so delicious but we definitely over ordered.
Additionally, we ordered the vegan spring rolls, sauteed green beans, the vegan pepper chicken and full duck and veggies dish to share amongst three.
To top it off, they brought out a bowl of veggie soup. Man, they really do take a full belly and happy faces to a new level.
While there were more non locals dining here tonight, I can't imagine locals not loving the flavors and vegan innovation. The vibe was very respectful and calm while supportive and fun.
Highly recommend you making this a stop for dinner. Our meal cost 345k and was 100x better than Duong which was Michelin admitted this past year.
And if the food and service wasn't enough, the social enterprise ambition of Mr William is purely admirable and truly achievable given the kindness of his spirit and...
Read moreWow what a pleasant surprise we stumbled across here. Was wondering yo and down the streets of the old town looking for somewhere to eat lunch. As my girlfriend is vegetarian we asked around and looked at menus and were about to give up on finding something more local until we saw this place. Really really tasty authentic Vietnamese food, my personal favourite on our trip. The menu is a little confusing but they will explain as you order a main which comes with a bunch of complementary sides. Everything we ate was really delicious and overall really good value. Make sure you don't over order on the mains as you get a lot of sides and they can provide extra for no added costs. To top of the experience the owner explained his story coming from a street kid polishing shoes to being able to open this restaurant. He donates a lot of the proceeds back into providing education to street kids of Vietnam. All in all you can easily avoid to overpriced western food or watered down local cuisine in the area for a real authentic experience here. Also the air-conditioning was a relief on a bit day in Hanoi. We look forward...
Read moreAVOID THIS PLACE!! this "entrepreneurs" are really entrepreneurial and recycle food of other guests including half eaten chops you can find in buncha... we witness our own half eaten food being taken to this tiny "kitchen" which is a food assembly room to be recycled for other guests. We also witnessed buncha dip being prepared by pouring boiling water to the bowls and dirty dishes being washed without any dishwashing liquid... on the surface this place is OK: it seems clean, has nice music, is quiet, not smelly, people are polite, which is rare in Hanoi, but when you look closer it is terrifying and NOT AUTHENTIC NOR NORMAL BY EUROPEAN STANDARDS. This place is also named cumulus restaurant.
I wrote this opinion to help other tourist decide for themselves. We found it harder and harder to find a good place to eat as google reviews does not verify if someone actually ate at the restaurant, it became common to buy opinions or that owners write excellent opinions about their own...
