In the span of a 1 kilometre radius around, I can confidently say this has the best dining hospitality provided.
Coming here, I was slightly cynical over the common theme of hospitality, probably alluding that as a story to attract tourists (especially westerners who dig this trope, sorry not sorry).
But I must say, I too felt very welcomed having lunch here.
The way I would describe this place is this: Imagine travelling a long distance with your friend and you finally ended up at his place. His mum prepares an extravagant meal, and the only goal she has is to ensure you are well fed and happy - this is what it feels like.
Seeing first picture and you will understand, this is only having ordered 2 main dishes. Yet, we were bombarded with an endless array of side dishes.
The owner came with 2 side dishes, to our initial surprise as we did not order them. Yet, he assures us its free and scooping with some rice, actually fed me with his chopsticks. Talk about hospitality!
Overall for what we ordered I felt we were given much more than what we paid for. The complete vibe was different, especially in a place like Old Quarter where maximising profit from tourists to me, is not uncommon.
Now, I must say that for seafood, its not the cheapest neither is it the most delicious - hence I won't crave seafood and think of this as the first place.
The dining experience though, is so unforgettable and unique, that I can't help but keep thinking about this place. I would want to go there again, perhaps having a sense of feeling of visiting a friend's mum's place - where the main goal is just to feed you and keep you happy.
I just want to say that the side dishes were amazing. Tofu in sauce and Egg fritter. And the owner actually chose to add more after we were done for free. Truly so unorthodox and experience I can't help but think about it time...
Read moreThis restaurant might not look like much from the outside, but don’t let that fool you—it’s an absolute gem and one of the best places to eat in the Old Quarter of Hanoi. It’s simple, fast, and everything is homemade by the family. You can truly see how hard they work, especially the older ladies in the kitchen, who put so much love into every dish.
The portions were generous, the food incredibly tasty, and to top it off, they even bring you free starters. And the total bill? Shockingly inexpensive for the quality and quantity you get.
What makes it even more special is the heart behind the place—the owner actively supports underprivileged people and gives back to the community. So by eating here, you’re not just having a great meal, you’re supporting something meaningful. Highly, highly...
Read moreVery inspirational story by the owner who started as a street kid to starting his own eatery so that he can support other less fortunate kids.
Food was very homely, the staff would stop you from over-ordering as each table was served many other side dishes of the day (we were served tomato tofu, vegetable soup and some fried fish cake) for free, and you could opt for refills for these side dishes.
Recommended to order their grilled prawns, steamed squid, roast duck and stir fried morning glory. They had bilingual (English & Vietnamese) language in their menu, staff could converse well in English. Prices were pretty affordable. They have a vegetarian menu as well.
Please support this family-run business, do not rush these wonderful people and wait patiently for...
