Terrible experience – avoid this hotel!
Do not be fooled by the photos on Booking.com – they are completely misleading. The reality is nothing like the pictures. The hotel is old and falling apart, with a strong, unpleasant smell of dampness. The air conditioner barely works and doesn’t cool the room properly.
The room we got had dirty walls, which made the place feel even more neglected and unhygienic. The rooms themselves are extremely small – much smaller than advertised. We asked to cancel our stay because of all these issues, the staff agreed to cancel the reservation, but a bit before we left they considered that the owner asked to charge us 200,000 VND ,unfairly charged us anyway.
Honestly, I have no idea how this hotel gets good ratings. Maybe people are reviewing a different place. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Stay away!
Notice:
We had initially decided to cancel our stay, and the front desk representative agreed to the cancellation without mentioning any charges. Only after the process was completed did she suddenly demand payment — something that was never communicated beforehand.
I want to make it clear: I never shouted or behaved aggressively. I explained from the beginning that my voice naturally sounds this way, and I remained calm and respectful. I also told her that I don’t blame her personally — the responsibility lies with the hotel’s management and policy.
In the end, I paid — not because I agreed — but because we reached a dead end and I wanted to avoid further escalation. I also made it clear that I would write about this experience.
We knew this wasn’t a luxury hotel, and we didn’t expect luxury. We booked a family room, exactly as described on Booking.com. But that doesn’t mean it’s acceptable to receive a room full of dampness, with a malfunctioning air conditioner, peeling walls, and dangerous exposed electrical sockets — a serious risk, especially for children.
The shower and toilet are combined in a way that floods the entire bathroom whenever someone showers. The elevator buttons were falling apart. These issues — and others — show serious neglect.
So again, this is not about price or expectations. It’s about basic standards, honesty, and safety.
And just to be clear: this review is about La Renta Hotel & Spa, 39 Hang Be Street. We know exactly where we stayed. If you care about your guests and your reputation, focus on fixing these problems — not on begging guests to delete...
Read moreWe booked La Renta PREMIER Hotel based on the polished photos and decent reviews on Expedia. However, it quickly became clear that the reality was far from what was advertised—and now we understand why they seem to have turned off their Google reviews.
When we first arrived, we dropped our bags and headed out without inspecting the room. Big mistake. When we returned, we were honestly disgusted by what we found.
There was hair all over the floor and even in the bed, which already made us uneasy. To make things worse, we noticed ants crawling on the bedding. The bathroom setup was extremely impractical, with the shower installed directly over the toilet, which felt both unhygienic and bizarre. The towels provided were stained and clearly not clean.
We asked to see other rooms in the hopes that ours was just a fluke. We were shown three additional rooms—bigger, yes, but every single one had similar cleanliness issues. It became very obvious that cleanliness and upkeep are simply not a priority at this hotel. The property itself looked old and run-down—nothing like the carefully curated photos online.
To her credit, the receptionist was very kind and did her best to help. We appreciated her effort and willingness to show us other rooms, but unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to make up for the poor conditions.
We chose not to stay and checked out the same night. While the hotel refunded two out of the three nights, they refused to offer a full refund—despite the fact that we didn’t spend a single night there. That decision was especially disappointing and speaks volumes about their customer service policy.
Overall, La Renta Premier Hotel did not come close to meeting even basic standards, and we would not recommend staying here. If you’re still considering it, make sure you see the room before you commit—and be prepared for something very different than what’s...
Read moreI stayed here for just under a month for both a mix of business and holiday. All the staff David, Lucy, Andy, Steven and others made me soo welcome and became my friends during my time here. They were super helpful at making sure my room met all my needs for working from and offered me advice on places to visit on my days off, booking trips through them at the hotel also gets you a discount rate so they got me further saving here too. Cleaning staff were attentive and diligent at making sure the room was cleaned properly each day. Free WiFi in each room meant excellent strength and signal for internet. Breakfast included was a great way to start each day. Check in times perfect for me and will accommodate you if you have unusual flight times, same with checkout and you can leave luggage in the reception area after checking out. Taxi service offered to and from airport so you do not get caught out by expensive taxi ride (see photo attached for price and details etc) Perfect location right in the heart of the old quarter walking distance from all the major landmarks, you will be spoilt for choice on where to visit first. Famous train street is no more than 500m away and a must see, but don't worry you can not hear the train from the hotel. Local drinking and eating spots just down the road where locals frequently visit, as well as more expensive tourist restaurants on the road the hotel is on. Perfect hotel for my stay and was super cheap. Would definitely stay here again and have David added on my WhatsApp so can make it happen. I look forward to coming back...
