Read moreThis coffee shop will perhaps become a core memory to me forever. Long story (w/ review) incoming.
It was a quite humid night in Hanoi and we really didn't think it would rain. Sucks for us, it did. Accuweather be damned. The Note Coffee was the first cafe we saw and rushed towards as we had nowhere to go.
We really didn't plan on buying anything lol. We just wanted some shed to let the rain die down. Very thankfully, the cafe employees even offered to let us in and wait inside and not just beside the cafe.
We took the offer, went inside and damn, it felt like a dream. I never knew about this cafe and all its gimmick. I'd tell you, you'd be there with a 360 view of all people's memories that they left through handwritten notes. Atmosphere alone puts the cafe's uniqueness and "worth going to" by +7 points on a 1-10 scale.
We stayed longer (as the rain was still raging hard) and bought us some chocolate and latte drinks. I have to say the drinks are "standard", nothing really something to write home about. It's fine. The servings are ok.
Here's the best part: the rain really didn't stop. We're under equipped and we just wanted to go home to our hotel. I asked to borrow one of the cafe's umbrellas and mentioned to the employee I talked to that I'd just go back to our hotel which is 7mins away from the cafe, get our own umbrellas, and then go back again to return it. Lifesaver moment, they agreed and our asses got saved.
Thank you so much The Note Coffee employee for your kindness :)
Summary: People here are great 5/5, atmosphere is perhaps 10/5, drinks are probably...
Read moreI went looking for this place as I had seen posts of it on Instagram. It is a small joint at walking distance from the Hoan Kiem Lake.
You will literally not be able to see the walls or ceiling as it is all covered will lots and lots of small notes. This will bring a smile on your face, just the thought that people love this place so much that they take the time to write and post the notes. Quite an innovative idea... I have seen other restaurants that usually use this idea for one or two wall areas.
We tried the Vietnamese Iced coffee with milk. I usually like my coffee without sugar but here the Vietnamese milk coffee is prepared in condensed milk so we ordered one with very less condensed milk. The coffee was decent, we have had better Vietnamese Iced coffee in this trip. However, they made it the way we asked them too and they served the coffee with a cute note (living up to the name of the cafe). 😊
Also, there was a staff who happily came up to us and took our picture with a nice frame of the cafe.
So I won't really recommend this place for coffee persay. However, I definitely recommend it for the friendly staff, warm ambience and for the big broad smile the note on the coffee brought to...
