The menu showed a traditional noodle dish but didn't make any mention of it being a cold plate. Started eating it and my first thoughts were 'this is my fault, I should have known,' but as I got towards the bottom of the bowl the salad was warm to hot as was some of the mock meat.
A little confused. I asked if the dish was meant to be cold, which I was told it was. My main concern by this point (aside from wanting a hot meal for dinner) was that I was eating something part hot - part cold, knowing the potential implications for my health.
Needless to say, I felt unwell the next day. In the restaurants defence, after a lot of conversation via Google translate, they eventually agreed to refund the noodle dish. They were rude and pretty much threw our change at us.
Sadly, this is the most negative eating experience I've had in nearly 8 weeks of eating at veggie restaurants in Vietnam. Really gutted this happed in Hoi An, which is one of my favourite parts of the country.
If you are going to go here, make sure you clarify what dishes are hot and which are cold as they aren't advertised and the staff...
Read moreThis place is amazing, as others have pointed out!! We have been living here for the summer and travel all around Hoi An trying the different vegetarian/vegan restaurants. This is our favorite!! You can order off the menu but really just go for the buffet selection. How it works is you walk up and they ask you if you want rice. We always say yes, then you proceed to point at the things that you want. A normal size plate will run you 25,000 to 30,000 dong. Then we always get a steam bun which is an extra 10k each. You sit and eat and they will bring you a nice soup which is included in your meal. You pay at the end. Our total bill is between 70 and 75k. We always just give them 80,000 and are so grateful.
It’s our number one place because its super fast, vegan, no msg or preservatives and there is always a wide selection! It is just a bonus that it is the cheapest...
Read moreExtremely cheap (probably our cheapest meal in Hoi An!) and good food. Our problem as vegetarians in Hoi An is that almost every vegetarian restaurant was very oily, including Ba Dam, however the flavours were really amazing, the crispy fried thing on top of the cau lau really tasted like pork crackling which is what a traditional cau lau is made of (this was a fried won ton wrapper I think?) The staff spoke very little English so we just did a lot of pointing, on our second visit I got the com thap cam which is rice and you choose from pre-cooked food in trays what you'd like. I didn't know what a few things were so I just got the serving person to pick out her favourites and it was all good! This is a bit of a local place, so you might have to share a table but it's all good! Great place for vegetarians to experience some Hoi An...
