Grandma Kitchen - Hoi An — Restaurant in Hội An

We had the pleasure of dining at Grandma Kitchen during our 8-day trip across Da Nang and Hoi An, and it turned out to be the best local food experience we had. In fact, we were so impressed, we returned for dinner two nights in a row.

The restaurant offers a wide range of authentic Vietnamese dishes, all beautifully presented and full of flavor. It truly captures the essence of local cuisine better than anywhere else we tried. On top of that, they serve an impressive variety of cocktails, perfect for a relaxing evening.

What truly sets this place apart is the service. The staff speak fluent English and go out of their way to explain the dishes, how to enjoy them, and even share stories about their cultural background. A special shoutout to Hue, who was exceptionally warm, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout our visits.

The overall service was attentive and proactive. To top it off, the view from the restaurant is lovely, adding to the charm of the whole dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Hoi An and looking for genuine local flavors with outstanding...

I had a recommendation to come here from someone on a walking tour and I was not disappointed. I came as solo diner and I was treated exceptionally well by Viet who gave me the best seat in the house - a view on the river where I could watch the evening’s comings and goings. Viet was incrediblly attentive, friendly and helpful (and kindly took my photo) - we had some nice chats about the ingredients and background to Vietnamese food and traditions, and those at Grandma’s.

Another gentleman, possibly part of the restaurant family, was also very friendly and welcoming.

I had a passion fruit juice, chicken and rice with broth and extra fresh chilli, spring rolls, kumquat tea and a dessert I don’t recall but is pictured here.

They were also generous with additional foodie bits and pieces - all absolutley delicious and could not have been a nicer, more welcoming Hoi An dining moment.
