I appreciate that they offer vegetarian options, and I hope they will add vegan options soon. I tried the tofu mushroom sushi, Wakame salad, and Grilled king oyster mushroom. The sushi was good, and the Wakame salad was excellent. However, the Grilled king oyster mushroom was undercooked and quite tough to chew. I had to ask them to cook it a bit more. Typically, these mushrooms should be boiled and then grilled to ensure they are fully cooked inside. Otherwise outside of mushroom will burn not cooked enough.
Additionally, I ordered the grape seed salad with tofu. They mentioned that the sauce, called "Kewpie," contains no animal products, but upon checking the ingredients, I found egg yolk inside. Therefore, if you are seeking a completely vegan option, please be cautious when ordering. We started out the meal with tofu and seaweed salad with Masago topping. It was an explosion of flavor and texture, as the seaweed had small chewy beads of saltiness. We ordered the scallop nigiri. I would definitely order that again. My companion had the salmon nigiri and was quite satisfied with the flavor and the texture of the salmon. The rolls and tempura are impeccable and everything is fresh, beautiful, and delicious. The restaurant itself is a peaceful oasis in the old town where you can duck in and enjoy a calming atmosphere and good music even when it's bustling outside.
The service matches the food and atmosphere. Our servers Hoang and Phuong are cheerful and attentive, and there's never a wait. Hoang speaks excellent English and is a pleasure to talk to. The first night was pretty busy and our rolls didn't come out at the same time, which is no big deal. As we were leaving, Phuong came over to apologize to us for the delay...it was such a thoughtful gesture.
