We visited Me Hoi An Coffee and Rooftop expecting a chilled-out spot with good coffee and a nice view — but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype.
First off, they didn’t even have cà phê sữa đá (Vietnamese iced coffee with condensed milk), which was surprising for a café in Vietnam and especially disappointing given it’s such a staple drink. Instead, the menu was geared heavily toward overly sweetened lattes and matcha options, clearly tailored for a Western tourist crowd rather than anyone looking for authentic Vietnamese coffee.
The pricing felt steep compared to local standards — definitely in the tourist-trap category. While some cafés in Hoi An justify their higher prices with atmosphere or quality, Me Hoi An didn’t deliver on either. The rooftop was fine but lacked charm, and the overall vibe of the place just felt a bit flat and disconnected. There was no warmth in the service, and we didn’t feel particularly welcomed or comfortable while we were there.
It’s a place that looks decent on social media, but in person, it feels more like a business built for quick tourist turnover than a space with heart or authenticity. Hoi An has plenty of beautiful, soulful cafés — this just isn’t one of them.
Wouldn’t recommend unless you’re desperate for a seat with a view and don’t mind paying extra for...
Read moreDecent cafe. The ambiance is nice - it’s in the heart of ancient town and you can take in the aesthetic vibes. It gets very hot in the cafe, but they have plenty of fans. So, it’s not the place to relax if you want to cool down. We worked here for a few hours - the WiFi was good, seats comfy, and many outlets for charging.
The drinks were okay. They offer plant-based milk, which is a great bonus. We had the cashew milk coffee and salt coffee. The cashew milk coffee tasted heavily diluted to me. The salt coffee was one of the better we’ve tried in Vietnam.
I do feel the service could have been better. As soon as we walked in they immediately stopped us and said we had to order at the counter. We had to explain that we’d like to see the cafe first and order if we decide to stay. It felt pressuring and not very hospitable. Also, their bathroom wasn’t working at the time we visited, so my boyfriend had to pay to use the public restroom. He didn’t mind this, but when he returned to the cafe, they tried to stop him as if he hadn’t been there for several hours prior.
It’s not a place I would go back to constantly, or go out of my way to return to. But if I was in the area I might make a pit stop and try another item...
Read moreI recently visited this charming rooftop cafe overlooking the old town of Hoi An, and it was a delightful experience. The panoramic views of the ancient streets and traditional buildings were absolutely stunning, providing a serene and picturesque backdrop. The atmosphere of the cafe was inviting and relaxed, with comfortable seating and a stylish yet cozy decor that perfectly complemented the historic scenery.
I tried their watermelon smoothie and pineapple juice, both of which were incredibly refreshing. The watermelon smoothie was delightfully hydrating, with a perfect balance of sweetness. The pineapple juice was tangy and invigorating, offering a vibrant and tasty treat. The rest of the menu offered a nice variety of drinks and light bites, catering to different tastes.
The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall pleasant experience. Their service was prompt but not rushed, allowing me to thoroughly enjoy the tranquil setting. Whether you're looking for a peaceful spot to unwind or a scenic place to catch up with friends, this rooftop cafe in Hoi An is a fantastic choice. Highly recommended for both the view and the quality of...
