Best food in Vietnam — keeps us coming back
We visited Morning Glory – Mother’s Kitchen three times during our stay in Hoi An, and it was without question the best food we’ve had in Vietnam.
They offer a 10% discount when you bring back your previous receipt — a nice touch — but that’s not why we kept returning. We came back because the food quality was outstanding, every single time.
I’ve been in hospitality for over 30 years, and I can honestly say this is one of my favourite restaurants ever. The protein quality, produce, and execution are second to none in Southeast Asia — especially when you factor in how affordable it is.
I ordered the duck breast twice — it’s served in a beautiful, rich orange jus, cooked perfectly. My boys loved the grilled pork skewers and the chicken noodle dish (bone-in, but they kindly deboned it for us last time). And the spring rolls? Easily the best we’ve had in Vietnam — fresh, clean, and full of flavour. The prawn and squid filling was actually enjoyable — not funky like many others we’ve tried.
On top of that, the service is warm and attentive, which can be hit-or-miss elsewhere in Vietnam. At Mother’s Kitchen, they get it right.
It’s rare to find a restaurant that delivers on flavour, consistency, and care — but this one does. If you’re in Hoi An and care about food, don’t miss it. We’ll...
Read moreHad dinner here recently and I must say, it was such a great experience from start to finish. The restaurant’s design is really beautiful — a perfect balance of modern style with a cozy, welcoming feel. You can tell they put a lot of thought into the details, from the lighting to the seating arrangement, which makes it a really comfortable place to dine.
The food was absolutely delicious. Every dish we ordered came out looking great and tasted even better. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, and the ingredients tasted fresh. Portions were just right — satisfying without being too heavy. It’s the kind of place where you can try a few dishes and share with friends or family, and everyone will find something they like.
One of the highlights for me was the live band performance. It really added to the atmosphere and made the evening feel extra special. The music wasn’t too loud, so you could still chat comfortably, but it gave the whole place a lively, warm energy.
Service was also friendly and attentive, which is always a big plus. Overall, I had such a lovely time here — great food, great music, beautiful design, and good vibes. I’ll definitely be...
Read moreThis medium-sized restaurant has a cozy and comfortable vibe. The space feels intimate and was much less crowded than I’d expected. 😅 Morning Glory serves up classic Hoi An cuisine, blending traditional Vietnamese elements with Chinese, Japanese, and Western influences, which reflects the city’s history as a trading port. The dishes highlight quality ingredients and a certain finesse, staying true to local food traditions. We went for lunch, and with hardly any other customers around, the service was pretty quick, which was a nice bonus. We ordered the famous white-rose dumplings🥟, something they’re known for. Having tried them elsewhere in Hoi An, it was easy to compare: here, the dough is thinner, and they seem to have a better handle on making them, all for the same price and portion size. Between the restaurant’s decor, the way the food was presented, and the quiet atmosphere with so few people, it was a pleasant experience that I don’t...
