Downtown Steakhouse - Nguyễn Huệ — Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

Everything is simple about this place, except for the view, which is magnificent if you’re on the balcony seating. Nice little joint deep in the heart of downtown SG. Only thing is, the food was also simple, too simple for my taste. By simple I mean very lackluster, undedicated, and insignificant. seems like everything was just thrown together, which really didn’t make sense as it took nearly 25 minutes for the salads to arrive. Start with the mushroom, for steaks I expected sautéed Portobello but what I got was some very bland and forgettable king’s trumpet. Next up, the fries, frozen, defrosted, and oil-bathed, which was drastically different from the photo in their menu, the one that promises a dish-full of fresh thin-cut fries. They didn’t even show the effort in making them look good on the serving platter. The sliders were average, which was expected as sliders are never meant to shed its own impressions like burgers do, so no blame on that. Now, the steaks. It wasn’t good, it wasn’t bad, it wasn’t acceptable. It was great, it was juicy, and it was perfectly cooked. The fact that it was so delicious added the fuel to the fire because every bite I took, I kept wishing that they could’ve invested even just a tad more effort into the other dishes to complete the journey. Its always the details that make a great dining experience, and I just hope they have paid more...

food was aiight but i had a bad experience on this occasion - lets hope this isnt their standard and it was a once off

i came in and got seated, wasnt given a menu, waited for maybe 10mins when i noticed the peeps next to us were already getting their entree! I then had to ask their table for the menu! after ordering it took about 20mins to get the softdrinks - had also reminded the staff on a couple occasions too! so the entree came out (for most of us) and then the mains came... we all finished eating and then FINALLY the entree came out for one of my mates who was already finished their main dish!

i understand it was probably a hectic day for the restaurant, however i wouldnt call it a busy day as there were still empty tables in the restaurant! so they definitely werent at capacity yet! but to have a lack of customer service from right when we sat down to all the way to the entree being served AFTER the main meal... i personally found it a tad appalling

but as mentioned, hoping this...

I recently had the pleasure of trying spaghetti cabonara at downtown steakhouse and I have to say it was absolutely delicious! The dish was perfectly cooked, with al dente spaghetti and a creamy, flavorful sauce that was rich but not too heavy.

The generous portion size was definitely appreciated, and the presentation was lovely - I could tell that the chefs take great care in their food preparation. The bacon bits were crispy and added a nice textural contrast to the smoothness of the sauce.

Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant and their spaghetti carbonara in particular. It's clear that the chefs use high-quality ingredients and have a real passion for their craft. I can't wait to go back and try more...
