Having decided to visit Salzburg, we were looking for a place to park our car that was not too far from the historic centre and at the same time was not extremely expensive. Having read the reviews of other users, we decided to try the CONTIPARK Tiefgarage Altstadtgarage B. The car park is multi-storeyed and is located within the same rock group as the fortress. Group B can accommodate around 1,000 cars. The parking spaces are comfortable and spacious. Each floor is served by toilets, stairs and lifts. The corridors are wide and well lit. At regular intervals there are emergency buttons to call the police, although we never had the perception of danger either inside or in the centre. The cash desks are located on the ground floor. The signs on the exits to access the sights are clear. As written by other users, nowhere is it mentioned that by having your parking ticket ‘stamped’ by any shopkeeper or restaurateur in the old town centre, you have access to a special rate with which you can make considerable savings. With a stop from 10:32 to 17:25, we...
Read moreVery good location for exploring Salzburg. Paid 22 euros for the day which, considering it's a 10ish minute walk to the old town, is reasonable for over 8 hours. The only issue was paying at the end of the day (20:00). The kassen did not accept the ticket and allow to pay before we got in the car. The attendant said that the gate was open and we could go. When he found out we hadn't paid, he told us it was ok. We attempted to take the elevator, but that was also out of order, so we had to walk up the 2 flights of stairs. When we went to leave, the gate was not open, like the attendant said. Thankfully there is a kasse at the gate and we were able to pay there. However, this was an inconvenience to have to get out of car again.

Read moreThis underground carpark is built inside a mountain. Inside it's pretty warm, but also very steamy. So be prepared that your windows and side mirrors might mist up. Especially if it's cold outside.
Also be careful when changing levels inside the garage. You'll go up and down via "spiral" ramps. So might be a bit tight with larger cars.
Been there on a sunday at around 10 am and there were still many free spaces available. The car spaces are not the biggest ones, but enough to get out of your car without worrying to scratch other cars.
The price was pretty fair, considering the location.
Free toilets are available as well. They seemed to get cleaned regularly. However the men's toilet was clogged up, but this might have happened shortly...
