To start, if I could give this 0 stars, I would.
This restaurant is small. Most of their staff, especially their manager, are extremely rude and unprofessional. We were seated at 8:33pm on a Saturday night, and immediately ordered our drinks. Our drinks arrived and were not correct, so after they were fixed, we ordered our food (approx 8:45). As we waited, we watched tables who were seated after us being served quickly, finish their meals and pay before we even received our food. We asked a waiter to please send over the manager at approximately 9:30 as we were coming up on an hour with no food. The manager was helping another table, and VERY loudly exclaimed that “the little short girl at the front would help them”. The hostess obviously had some form of disability and this comment rubbed my entire family the wrong way. We asked to speak to the manager a second time, now 9:45pm, just as our food was arriving. When the manager finally came to our table, we explained our situation and concerns. The manager exclaimed quite aggressively that we had in fact NOT been seated for an hour and our food was only rung in at 9:02pm (obviously an error on the waitresses part). When I explained this was not correct, she cut me off and told me she “would not do anything for me if I continued to be snarky towards her”. Up to this point, our entire family had been beyond nice regarding the situation as it was a Saturday night. I took the receipt from her hand and that the service was unacceptable and the restaurant was a disgrace; we would not be back. She then snatched the receipt from my hand and told me that she would comp our meals by 50% to solve the problem. Needless to say, not only do staff need more training, the MANAGER herself needs an attitude adjustment and perhaps a career change if she can’t handle the customer volume in a tourist destination.
Besides these issues with staff and service, the food was decently prepared and did come out hot despite the delay.
My best advice? Go to one of the other restaurants on Clifton Hill. You will only be...
Read moreThis restaurant was new to us. It has a comfy atmosphere and delicious food. We came around 11 on a week day, it was fairly full, but there was minimal wait time to be seated. There was an activity page and crayons for the children. Our server was kind, though could have been more attentive. At one point I was trying to make eye contact to request spoons for our tea, for some reason they were not in 3 of 4 of our napkin wraps. I saw her around and short of putting my hand up like in school, I just walked up and asked...not a big deal. I'm comparing this place to Denny's because that is our Niagara go to for breakfast. CH over IHOP any day! (At least North of the border). I haven't determined a clear winner, but the lower wait time, lower prices, bigger pot of tea goes to CH. CH has potato cubes vs the hash at D's, both are delicious. D's has bigger pancakes and a premium slice of ham, in their big breakfast (eggs, bacon sausage, potato side and toast) Both have a decent portion size. And I think CH gives 3 eggs to D's 2. D's is a bigger location with a higher chance for a booth with privacy, while CH has traditional chairs and maybe a wall of comfy chairs, a very open concept. Speed of service is comparable, (the food at CH probably came faster given its smaller size and fewer tables). There's lots of parking at D's, we usually stay at the hotel next door so just walk over. I'm not sure what parking is like at CH, but it's near the top of the Hill, and is central, we walked from our hotel. I highly recommend Clifton Hill Family restaurant and would definitely...
Read moreMy wife and I were in the Falls for our 10 year anniversary. After checking a few of the restaurants out, we decided to go to Clifton Hills Family restaurant. My wife was immediately disappointed, being told they were out of fish & chips. We decided to stay and ordered the BBOB Burgers. She went with sweet potato fries side, I went with rice and asked to have mushrooms added to mine. The pineapple milkshake was subpar and tasted very synthetic. Then when they brought us food the first time, it wasn't even what we ordered. They tried bringing us a club sandwich and something else. When we finally got out meal, the burgers were delicious, despite mine not even having mushrooms on it. Later, our waitress spilled water on my wife's "plate", which still had her fries on it, and had to go get my wife a new plate to move her fries onto. The rice, despite adding butter, salt, and pepper, was still very bland tasting. To top it off, our waitress made the decision to bring us our bill after we had both finished our burgers. We didn't even ask for it yet, because my wife wanted one of their mango icecream desserts. The lady at the cash register was able to add it on to our bill. We took the dessert to go and it was so horrible, we only had a mouthful each and it went right into the nearest garbage bucket on Clifton Hills. Was severely disappointed and spent part of the rest of the evening apologizing to my wife for the...
