Butler's Barracks was the home of Loyalist military officer John Butler, in what was then Newark, Upper Canada; present day Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. Butler is most famous for leading an irregular military unit known as Butler's Rangers on the northern frontier during the American Revolutionary War.

The Original Butlers Barracks were constructed in 1778 down by the Niagara Rivers West side. Once Ft George was completed, the Barracks were taken down. The new Butlers Barracks were not built, till 1818. The numerous buildings on site, where once surrounded by a Wooden Palisade. This site has been in use for our Military, right up to the 1960's. Butler's Barracks is part of the larger Fort George National Historic Site. During the summer months the site is alive with people dressed and reenactments of the period and time of the war of 1812. Una piacevole sorpresa immersa nel verde e nella storia. Il Butler’s Barracks non è solo un sito storico, è un piccolo viaggio nel tempo, in un contesto rilassante e accessibile a tutti.
Camminare tra queste strutture di legno, alcune vecchie di oltre 200 anni, dà la sensazione concreta di entrare in una pagina viva della storia militare canadese. Le caserme sono semplici ma evocative, e i pannelli informativi aiutano a contestualizzare senza appesantire. È uno di quei luoghi dove non servono effetti speciali: bastano il silenzio, i prati curati e il tempo per lasciarsi trasportare.
Ottimo anche per chi cerca una passeggiata tranquilla lontano dal turismo più rumoroso. Gli ampi spazi verdi sono perfetti per un picnic o per portare il cane, e il collegamento con Fort George rende la visita ancora più completa.
