We had a truly wonderful stay at Finlay House Bed and Breakfast in Niagara-on-the-Lake. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality from Yvonne the house manager was exceptional — warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. She went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and well taken care of throughout our stay.
Our room was spotless, cozy, and full of charm, making it the perfect retreat after a day of exploring. Every morning we looked forward to the absolutely delicious breakfasts she prepared — not only beautifully presented but made with care and attention to detail.
She also gave us fantastic suggestions for things to do and places to eat in the area, including Aura On The Lake, which ended up being one of our favourite dining experiences.
Finlay House itself is adorable, full of character, and incredibly cozy. One of the highlights was the large wrap-around balcony, which we thoroughly enjoyed during the quiet mornings and relaxing evenings. The location is perfect — just a short 5-minute walk to the main area, yet far enough to enjoy some peace and tranquility away from the bustle.
Overall, it was a truly enjoyable experience, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a charming and restful getaway in...
Read moreThis is a lovely, clean property in a great location. The door codes were texted to us early on the day of our arrival, so we were able to let ourselves in. However, there was no one around when we got there and no one when we returned from dinner. It was mid-week and we were the only guests. It was a little disconcerting to wonder whether we were the only people in the house (we found out in the morning that a staff member lives in the basement).||The text message indicated that breakfast is served between 9:00 and 10:00. At exactly 9:00, to our surprise, the cook shouted up the stairs that hot breakfast was on the table. We had to scramble to get ready and when we went down a few minutes later, a plate of cold french toast and bacon was on the table. There was no one in the room to greet us. ||May I suggest that you inform your guests that they must be in the dining room at exactly 9:00 a.m., or they will be...
Read moreAfter spending a few days at the Queens Landing Hotel for a business conference, I had to find a room "in a pinch" because the Landing was completely booked post-conference. While the Landing is grand and historic, I can say with absolute confidence that I felt more comfortable at the Finlay House. Its situated steps away from the main historic street lined with shops and restaurants (I equally enjoyed my dinner at the nearby Indian restaurant with authentically prepared Indian food). The Oscar Wilde room is light-filled, immaculate, cozy, and with all the essentials for a good night's rest. Renters highly responsive. Didn't have the opportunity to stay for breakfast...would...
