The resort is well situated near the town and the nature of Monte Verde. The staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the local attractions.
The restaurant was quite busy in the mornings and the pizza was OK, but what else do you expect in Costa Rica? The resort is farm-to-table with all of the vegetables growing in gardens, situated between the rooms and the main lobby. This gives a fresh and authentic touch to every meal, ensuring guests enjoy the freshest produce possible.
The best feature, in my opinion, was the hiking trails on the premise. In the middle of the hiking trails is an open area with several hammocks. While we were relaxing in them, native animals were roaming around nearby, which made for a unique experience. The tranquility of the trails and the chance to see wildlife up close made our stay truly memorable.
Additionally, the eco-friendly practices of Valle Escondido Nature Reserve impressed us. They prioritize sustainability, which is evident in their use of solar energy and efforts to reduce waste. This commitment to the environment enhanced our overall experience, making us feel good about choosing a place that cares for nature.
Overall, Valle Escondido offers a perfect blend of comfort, nature, and sustainability. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and eco-conscious getaway...
Read moreMe and my parents loved our stay here - we were in the newer rooms in the hotel overlooking the view and it was beautiful. Bathroom great, and the breakfast food was delicious. Really lovely to have all the grounds to explore as well where we saw countless birds, coatis and even an agouti! Wifi connection was also excellent given it’s such a big place! The farm to table and permaculture concept is excellent.
Only suggestions for improvement are for the restaurant - you had to book for dinner which is fine, but any other time you went for drink / snack it felt like you weren’t always welcome unless you’d booked. My dad also had to rescue an agouti from the artificial pond in front of our room as it fell in and had no escape route - was swimming for 45 mins round and round exhausted before he had to scoop it out as reception was closed. Given there is so much wildlife, these kinds of things need to be...
Read morestopped here for a couple nights, loved the night walks in the reserve, Army ants on the march, tarantula's, birds and critters of all sorts. For a solar water heater the water was scorching hot and no shortage, rooms smaller but more than adequate. Food was simple but well liked by many including locals that came to eat. great location to everything as we walked to the butterfly world and around town. 4 years ago I was here originally, and Would I go back, absolutely
Update I went back and the new very large room expansions is very impressive (excellent) with views of the ocean and very steep valley directly off the back of the property. Those that have being to costa rica know what I mean by steep valleys. New chef is making some amazing sauces and...
