Alisson Hotel and Restaurant — Restaurant in Monteverde

The hotel it self was okay but still I wouldn’t recommend.

I stayed here for a few nights. The weather was pretty bad the first couple of days, so all my clothes got damp. Since I decided to stay a bit longer and the weather got better, I thought I’d take the chance to wash some dirty clothes. At first, I asked one of the staff if I could hang my clothes outside to dry, and they said it was fine. But then the owner told the staff that I wasn’t allowed to hang anything outside.

So I moved my clothes to an upstairs common area where there was sunlight and left them there to dry. Later on, I was in a rush to go on an early tour, and the owner came over and told me I had to bring my clothes back inside. I didn’t have time right then, so I asked if it was okay to wait until I got back to move them. He said okay.

But when I returned, I found out the owner had touched my stuff and moved my clothes back into my room without telling me. He even opened my room door by himself. I paid for the room, and I don’t think he had any right to go in without my permission. That’s really disrespectful. On top of that, he started yelling at me, saying, “This is a hotel, not your home.” Honestly, it was a terrible experience staying there. We had a fantastic meal at Alisson Restaurant, where the attention to quality and customer service really stood out. The owner, Wonka (apologies if we’ve misspelled the name), greeted us warmly and went out of his way to accommodate our requests.

We both ordered the Hamburgesa de Carne (7 oz. Meat Burger), and it did not disappoint. The beef is ground fresh on-site and cooked to order, ensuring a perfectly prepared burger just the way you like it. The homemade buns were a perfect complement—soft yet sturdy enough to hold up to the juicy burger. While the standard side is French fries, Wonka was happy to substitute them for us without any issue, which we really appreciated.

The operators and waiter were friendly and accomodating. The restaurant's decor is appealing. Due to the location's front door being 10 feet from Hwy 620 where 620 is a steepish uphill climb; and due to the number of apparently muffler-free vehicles -- motorcycles, cars, and trucks -- panting to make that uphill climb; and due to the way the hotel's layout acts like a giant sound receiver, we cancelled our second night there. I hope the management can figure out ways to mitigate the harsh sounds that permeate the building, e.g., hanging textiles on the inner walls; coating the ceilings inside the building with sound proofings; laying down rugs on the floors in the hallways and rooms, installing double or triple-pane...
