It is only a one room Museum, but very interesting, free and worth a visit… Here you can experience 150 years history of the department store Magasin, which was established in Århus in 1868 by Theodor Wessel and Emil Vett. They created a unique business concept with textiles and furniture factory in Østerbro and branches all over the country. Through the 20th century the Magasin developed into a customer magnet with fashion shows, house orchestra, tearoom and orient exhibition. Wessel and Vett took care of their employees, as they built old people´s home, holiday homes and offered language courses. I was guided around by the museums host, who was one of the former employees and could tell anecdotes about her time in the department store. Don´t forget to have a look at the small attic room on the 3rd floor of Magasin, where the Danish storyteller H.C.Andersen (1805-1875) lived...
