We unfortunately had a very disappointing experience at DEJ in Magasin. We (2 people) had booked a table several days in advance and when we arrived, the waiter showed us to 4 person table where a couple was already sitting. After asking again, the waiter said that they had cleared it with the couple, and the COUPLE was okay with it? I was very confused as I had booked a table in advance and no where did it say that we should expect to be seated with others at the table. We chatted with the couple and turns out that they hadn't booked a table in advance, and had initially been told they were fully booked but were ultimately placed at our table. I really didn't think it was okay that we hadn't even been asked if we were okay with it. After being seated, we then waited for 20 minutes before the waiter came down to ask the couple at our table if their food was alright, at which point the guy pointed out that we had yet to order. We had the pastas, one of each, and both were quite disappointing. It tasted like the pasta had been cooked in unsalted water, the added sausage was dry, and both dishes were generally quite tasteless. The chili oil they had at the table was good though. Overall a disappointing experience with unattentive waiters and...
Read moreI was brought here by a colleague from Amsterdam while we were in Copenhagen for work. He suggested having an early dinner — as usual for Northern Europe — around 6 PM, and we ended up at DEJ inside Magasin du Nord, right in the city center.
As someone from Naples, I’m usually quite skeptical about eating pizza abroad — expectations are always high! But I have to say this place was a nice surprise. The restaurant is really charming, located on the top floor of the department store, with large windows overlooking the main square. From there, you can even catch a view of the wind turbines turning in the distance — a very Copenhagen touch.
I ordered the Sotto Bosco pizza — it was very good, with fresh prosciutto and tasty pâté. If I had to mention one downside, the dough was slightly lacking in salt for my taste — I even mentioned it at the cashier.
Prices are average for Copenhagen, and I didn’t drink alcohol but tried a very refreshing orange fizz, which was also something new for me and very enjoyable.
Overall, a nice spot for a quick and pleasant meal in a stylish location right in the heart of Copenhagen. Definitely recommended if you’re looking for a casual dinner in the city center with...
Read moreThe view is nice, but my pizza was very disappointing. I ordered a marinara pizza. With the tomatosauce being the - only - topping, it was a big shame that large plots of the pizza was without any sauce at all, leaving it VERY dry. I pointed this out while in the restaurant, and the server agreed that the pizza was not up to par, but no attempts very made to remify the situation (i.e. making a new pizza or a least providing a discount). With so many alternatives to getting a great pizza in CPH, I will not be back.
Edit. Thanks for the reply. I ordered a margherita without cheese. Sauce was placed in an outer circle - leaving the centre of the...
