Been a loyal customer for many years. I was here a few days ago and was met with very rude staff. I know they stopped taking orders for drinks but I was trying to buy a bottled mulled wine to bring home. You are allowed to buy bottled mulled wine home even after they stop serving drinks. I know this because I’ve been here often every Christmas season. Female staff kept pointing/banging aggressively to the “closed” sign on the bar table without even saying a word, and when she finally understood that I wanted to buy a bottle (not sure why the English word for “bottle” is so hard to comprehend) she finally obliged. It seems like some assumptions were made about me before she tried to even understand what I was asking for. This behaviour is very rude and unnecessary. Hviids Vinstue is good for their gløgg but the service definitely dampened the Christmas spirit (especially if you don’t look like a white person from Denmark). I would recommend the drinks, but brace yourself for rude people.
I concur with the other reviews that talk about racism. This is coming from my experience with the white lady with straight shoulder length hair with bangs and a black lady. It is embarrassing that such a famous place that probably represents Copenhagen/Denmark has to be tainted...
Read moreGreat location, easy access to transit incl. Metro to Kastrup airport, or on to Malmo in Sweden. Lots of history. Properly dressed waiters, serving great food, cold beers n wine. Others have mentioned the spiced wine, n I agree it is good n well worth a visit when the rest of the world is running mad trying to find that last minute Christmas gift. Only a few minutes from Nyhavn, with its many restaurants and some very good hotels (that you have mentioned recently). One can also do canal tours from Nyhavn. Royal Theatre right there, as is access to the famous pedestrian street: Stroeget. Summing it up: great atmosphere, close to everything, food, beverages and people watching. And a relative short walk to...
Read moreThe staff’s behavior was extremely rude, degrading, and snobbish. As a newcomer to the country, this establishment has left me with a negative impression of all Danish people. Their interaction with my partner and me was degrading, and I felt as though I were being followed and my personal space was being invaded. I was refused assistance with my partner’s disability, and I did not feel respected or helped when my partner unfortunately had an accident. As a doctor myself, it is embarrassing to be treated as if I am a peasant or a common law thief. Will not be back, staff need a new attitude. Kindness...
