We went on a rainy day; and that is a really good test if not challenge to weather the long waiting outside queue of wannabe Orangerie visitors. Whilst you wait exposed to the wet, windy, chilly, puddelly, you can taste the increasing frustration of those around you. Of course smart ones have bought an online, time slotted, get-me-near-the-front almost queue jumper. Even that left us waiting 30 minutes to get to the front door. Where you will undergo a tight slalom to be security checked. Probably no bad thing.

The vestiere required another queue taking about 10 minutes. But that's not too bad.

The museum/art gallery is nicely laid out on Floor 0. Down steps to Floor min1 for the shop and cafeteria both of which were great. Down to min2 where you find boxy chambers where art stands. It's a pretty neutral experience lacking much wow factor.

Of course you will not be alone. In fact you can find yourself in the 2nd or 3rd row of art-gazers where you will be front lit by the many upheld, pano-zooming 1st and 2nd rowers. If unlucky you will be confronted by a guide holding audience with a mob of people. Be brave and push through them to get closer to the painting being discussed.

It took about 90 minutes to contemplate what was displayed.

Some hints, find the lift. It is well indicated but little used. Near the cafeteria you will see a door through which you find the lift door on the min1 floor. Next to it is a toilet plainly marked as usable. There is nothing to say you can't use it. So I did. You may get some mumblings that this is a staff toilet. I raised questioning eyebrows, mumbled something back and took the lift upwards.

I found Musee de l'Orangerie an OK sort of place, the reputation of the art you can see is impressive, the entrance logistics miserable. 😏
