Brauhaus "Zum Prinzen" — Restaurant in Cologne

As an East Asian customer, I felt uncomfortable with the service at this restaurant. On Thursday (22.08) afternoon, when I approached the white waiter who was facing directly outward from the door, he initially avoided eye contact and turned to the other direction despite the restaurant being mostly empty. After I greeted him, he turned around and acted surprised.

When I asked for an extra spoon (Löffel), the waiter turned to an adjacent white female customer and both laughed at me. The waiter even pointed to his ear (as if I said Löffel incorrectly), but he did not look confused or ask any follow-up questions, which made the laughter feel mocking instead of confusion. I know I pronounced it correctly, as "oe" in German is similar to "eu" in French. This behavior was unprofessional and disrespectful.

Additionally, when I asked to split the bill with my friend, the waiter initially refused, but complied after I insisted and asked why it wasn’t possible. He also just left without asking me if I wanted a receipt after I paid. I had to tell him I wanted my receipts.

I hope other people of color and/or non-German speaking people think twice before they eat at this restaurant (if at all) unless the staff stop their...

I was relying on the stars here on Google and I didn't read the review until I get in. Very rude and cold man server 😒 😑 so I ordered food quickly as I already seated down. I was checking the drinks menu and he said not all available only the beer so I have to take it. Then I read some negative comments and I felt the same. So I tried to be positive and when I finished the meat I double thumbs up I was thinking it till send a smile and make him tone down nope 🙅‍♀️ it's a mistake. I have to get the bill as quickly as possible I didn't ask for receipt I'm expecting the correct amount which is good it is. Then I went down to take a piss but even the lady by the door is rude asking me to out money first before I could pee, I don't have cash so I just left with almost bursting bladder. I'm not going back. By the way, I'm asian maybe it's another thing that made me unwelcome. Trying to take the best photo of the food it's different from what other posted. What a waste of money I could just went to currywurst stall...

Scam for turists. Take into account that they will add 15% tip directly when they tell you the amount to pay and give no receipt. Also, we asked of we could eat inside and they said outside, then german people eated inside. When we got told the total amount we asked in english and german to repeat how it was again but no answer, we got charged 15% tip by default, this is the only restaurant where we faced that, in others you choose the tip or say the amount you wanna pay (to include the tip) The food we ordered was schnitzel and bratwurst, not very decent, wont ever come back, dont waste...
