Disappointing. We dined here our last night in Iceland and had such high hopes. Sadly we walked away noting this was one of our least favorite dining experiences of the trip. My husband had the tuna tartar and duck confit. The tartar was fine (just that .. fine) but the duck confit was tough (yes, tough ... not sure how that happens if you are making real confit) and the accompaniments were not as advertised on the menu. He took a few bites and was done. I had the burrata salad with roasted plums, tomatoes.. it too was fine but nothing to write home about and again not served as advertised because it was missing the advertised grilled bread. My main course was the veal with tagliatelle and truffle sauce. The veal was tender and the pasta was ok but nothing really stood out about the dish. Our cocktails were the best part of the meal. Overall, while the aesthetic of the restaurant is pleasing it lacks in soul... someone is not paying attention to what is being put out and the menu, while attractive given its many options, may suffer because there are too many options. Service was mixed.. the woman who greeted us and sat us was great, as was one of the servers. Another server was on his second day which made things a bit mixed but okay, you have to start somewhere. Nevertheless after wonderful experiences at other establishments and high hopes we walked away disappointed. I do not recommend as for these prices there are many other places that deliver a better...
Read moreThe food here was really delicious, however the service was really, really terrible. Our group of 8 had our "farewell dinner" here at 8pm that had a preset menu (so they knew in advance what we were having). We ordered drinks and got our first course (a lovely langoustine soup). Then we waited an inordinately long time for our second course - we'd been there over an hour at that point. Then a long wait for our third course. We very nearly left before the fourth course (dessert) because by that point it was after 10pm and we were all very tired and some still had to prep and pack for traveling home the next day. The server would come over and say "the next course is coming" but no further explanation as to when, or what the holdup was (which we might have been more understanding if, say, the kitchen was short-staffed or something). Then we'd wait for another 15-30 minutes. It was quite disappointing. The food was good, but not good enough that I'd go back. There are so many restaurants in Iceland with delicious food and better quality service that I'd skip this one and...
Read moreWhat a beautiful gem of a restaurant in Reykjavik! I ordered the cod of the lunch menu and I could taste the passion the chefs have for their ingredients. Amazing flavors and possibly one of the tastiest dish I've had in Reykjavik for a while. Also, I think the tiramisu is also one of the best in town. The design of the restaurant is impressive as well, with counter seating facing Laugavegur, so it is also a great option for us who go solo through life. I also noticed some nice details; the cutlery were of high quality and the white cloth napkins were crispy clean and smelled fresh. Would give this restaurant 5 stars if the server had been a bit more attentive, the restaurant was almost empty at the time I was there so it shouldn't have been difficult. My empty water bottle was never replaced, no one checked if everything was okay or how the food was and I waited a long time for someone to offer me coffee or dessert. Eventually I called the server myself to order dessert. Otherwise, a lovely...
