We attended this church this evening at approximately 5:45pm in a rare moment of ecclesiastical need. We were immediately greeted by its imposing architecture and serene environment, all of which was made more harmonius by the string quartet practicing surrounded by candles on the alter! Humbled by the grace of God in adding a beautiful soundtrack to our evening, we dropped to our knees in prayer and rejoiced.

However, in a cruel twist on Matthew 21:12 we were cast from the church out into the cold! The faithful among us, hurled into the cold street whilst the tax collectors gathered their doves and prepared their tables to collect tribute in the house of God.

Fortunately, we had tickets for the event (Hans Zimmer string quartet by candlelight) and were allowed back in moments later but the irony wasn't lost on us!

In all seriousness though, a beautiful church and an unreal venue for this type of gig, the musicians were incredible but it was the venue that...

Attended Queens tribute candle lit concert, must have to say, me and my partner were very disappointed in the venue. Although we enjoyed the arrangement of the songs, it would make queen proud, however we were unable to see the overall concert had to offer. You could not see the candlelights 4 rows back and you could hear everyone else complain from behind us throughout. But the choice of material to respect those with epilepsy was there and it was an affordable price. All can be improved if these concerts were held in better venues where everyone can enjoy the atmosphere without drowning in the dark in the back row. Lastly, the mics used by the host could have been tested in advance, their words were incoherent throughout the performance. We still enjoyed the music but probably will not attend a similar concert...

St Andrew’s Parish Church is one of those places that truly takes your breath away. The architecture is stunning – tall vaulted ceilings, elegant arches, and an atmosphere that feels both peaceful and profound. Whether you’re there to attend a service, enjoy one of their community events, or simply sit quietly in reflection, it’s a deeply grounding experience. The staff and clergy are welcoming and kind, always taking time to speak with visitors. I also had the opportunity to attend an evening event there, and the lighting with all the candles created an incredibly serene and spiritual setting. It’s a place that embodies both history and heart, where you can really feel a sense of connection. Five stars – a beautiful church and a must-visit for anyone...

This was a fabulous candlelight concert of Hans Zimmer's sublime music played by the incredible Castle String Quartet. The sound, atmosphere, efficiency of the staff, organisation by Fever and the absolutely beautiful scores played with grace and passion all made this a wonderful hour. The church itself was fantastic, with great acoustics and the candles created a lovely atmosphere.
