Fabulous breakfast spread made with quality ingredients. Try their french brulee made to order if you like sweets. The amazing Breakfast makes up for all other shortcomings (noise, rooms in need of renovation). Reminder notes: need floor 18 and above. Rooms 1807 and 1808 towards elevator are quieter but I keep rustling around 6:30 am to train noise even with ear plugs. Room 2209 was too loud. Wish we could have opened windows for fresh air, even a crack as the rooms get stuffy and felt humid. Pillows made for King Kong and stuffed so neck sits high. Bringing own pillow solves that. AC worked well, and lounge is lovely in the evening. Free shuttle to and from Shinagawa station coming often during peak hours (bus will only show Gotenyama Trust City on front and always leaves promptly. Also the stand is right outside the station and across from the bright Hollywood building) or can take a taxi for around 700 yen. Walking takes about 12 minutes and is very safe. Foreign staff very kind and pleasant. Update: Oct 2024 the breakfast still fabulous. They have a yummy organic egg omelette with beef sauce that is lovely. Or try the french brûlée (these items must order from the employee). The lounge in evening has improved and served A5 Wagyu, and sashimi on another night! Pillows have improved to a nice feather pillow that allows neck to rest low and comfortably. Despite a renovation, rooms seem the same and are nice and comfortable. Noise remains a major issue- waking up at 3 am-5 am from sirens, train noise, and delivery trucks reverse beeping noise despite earplugs and being on higher floor 2308. In hindsight 2009 was quieter so maybe they replaced the windows in that room. Nevertheless, I really like the breakfast at this hotel and it makes up for the noise issues.

Amazing service, great stay, decent location My wife and I stayed at the hotel for one night, got the deluxe room with amazing city view and enjoyed our stay. The room is spacious, especially when comparing to other hotels we stayed at in Japan. The wifi in the room is great, AC is amazing, the bathroom and shower are enormous, and overall it was a very positive experience for our last night in the city. You get a free wifi device that you can take and use while walking around the city (and also can be used as a phone). The water bottles in the mini-bar are complimentary. The staff was amazing and helpful. Few small annoyances (if to be picky) - It's about 15 min walk to the nearest train station - Which is not too far but uncomfortable when carrying suitcases. We had no idea (and I don't think it was communicated) that we can take a complimentary bus ride from the train station - We were told that there is a bus that can take us directly to the airport. When we boarded the said bus, it took us to the train station. I assume it's just a communication/language barrier. - The prices at the bar are outrages. Almost $20 for a glass of plum wine with soda. Save yourself the trouble; the cocktails are not that good and priced double if not more than in any bar in the city. With all that - It's most definitely a 5-star experience, and you will enjoy your stay

Room is clean and decently sized. Bathroom is quite old and not too clean - the bathtub glass divider is full of old soap stains, which is surprising considering it is the Marriott. It is a few minutes away by bus from the Shinagawa train station, and depending on bus schedule it comes around 3 times an hour (varies on weekdays/weekends) so it is pretty inconvenient if you miss the bus. The walking route is not covered once you alight (from hotel to train station) so if it rains you will need to take an umbrella. The bus stop at Shinagawa (to hotel) is only sheltered for the first 2 passengers - if it rains it is a cold and wet wait for the bus. First visit to the lounge - never again. Food was decent, but the crowd was overwhelming. Long queues at the buffet line, and tables were packed close to each other and absolutely full. (this was a weekend). It is incredibly popular with small families because of the cold weather and there isn't any restaurants within comfortable walking vicinity. Breakfast buffet was very good. Food was very fresh and delicious - especially the salad buffet section. Love the creative egg dishes from the egg station. Appreciate the Gotenyama Park next to the hotel. Very nice to walk around among the maple trees.

I never expect that wonderful dinner here. We are invited into a private section where a table to contain 8 people. After very good champagne, the starter surprises us further w/ an outstanding look of vibrant colour backed by plane dark stone reminding us a drawing from Matisse. Also seasonal persimmon is used to echo the timing. Clever! Domestic mushroom soup and following salad are all again seasonal food. I really appreciate their effort to bring together all the seasonal best into a wonderful set. Grilled dishes are very well cooked. They are filled with texture and juicy to taste. Sauces are also simple to perception and add layers onto good material. Though I have to say that raw materials may be not the best, chief makes them into very good balance. Nice to look at, good mouth feel and after taste, sauces to build pyramid of flavours to the tip. All are accompanied with vivid good American red wine. The combination reminds me of Utagawa's Ukiyoe of "People Enjoying the Evening Cool at Ryogoku, in the Eastern Capital". I would like to recommend to people who like to enjoy the season flavour.
