By 0730am in the early morning, the morning market is bustling heavily with activities. It is far more exciting than the morning markets of Vientiane. If you are a tourist, it is possible to do some negotiation on prices as the locals tend to mark up the products for a huge margin. There was a stall that waited for us to be gone before accepting payment from a local buyer! A mini tourist trap, as one might say! There are also some repetition with the night market in terms of the items sold (e.g. clothes, bags, textiles etc.) Nevertheless, this market is still one of our favorite as there is a huge range of products being sold. For non-edibles, there are bags, clothes, souvenirs such as magnets or paintings. For edibles, there is a wide variety of food being sold - hot soup with noodles, baked or raw fish, crackers and seaweed, chilli pastes, fruits and smoothies, and even exotic food such as mice or frogs! Some locals do get their daily shopping for vegetables and produce here as well. Best to go early in the morning when the sun is not blazing hot. Also worth noting that by 1030am, the vendors would be starting to pack up, so better be there early!

One of the best things to do each day after my morning run along the Mekong River was to tuck some money into my running shorts and walk through the morning market. Running along several narrow alleys in the old town, vendors spread blankets on either side for a very intimate shopping experience. It feels like the morning market serves a different purpose than the popular night market in the daily life of Luang Prabang. Here the staples and ingredients of life are available incredibly fresh fruits and veggies, a large variety that aren't commonly seen. Other fresh items including chicken, fish, herbs and flowers are available. Similar to the night market, there are some breakfast items cooking and ready to eat. I tried the sticky rice, available in a couple of different types and with peanut, sesame, coconut, it's a warm and sweet salty way to get your breakfast. Chinese youtiao and soy milk, fish, satay all were freshly on offer from the small stalls in the narrow streets. Everything is take away... This is morning shipping and then move on with your day.

The Luang Phrabang morning market is a wonderful experience for anyone visiting this beautiful city in Laos. The market is bustling with energy and excitement, with vendors selling a variety of fresh produce, handmade goods, and traditional textiles. The sights and smells of the market are truly immersive, and the friendly vendors add to the overall charm of the market. I highly recommend trying some of the delicious street food on offer, as well as bargaining for unique souvenirs. Whether you're a local or a tourist, the Luang Phrabang morning market is a must-visit for anyone looking for a true cultural experience. Overall, it's a great place to start your day and gain a deeper appreciation for the daily life of the local community.

Love this morning market! There's a trend in many cities across Southeast Asia to move these types of street markets indoors, hopefully Luang Prabang recognizes how special this market is --- it's a must see when visiting Luang Prabang and I've visited several times. There's lots of things going on here -- noodle shops and coffee stands, a couple of fresh market sections (river fish and meat butchers), several places selling clothing, and lots of stalls selling local foods (like dried river weed). It's a great place to grab some breakfast snacks (sai oua - sausage and grilled stick rice on a stick) and try some local eats. It's crowded -- but in a good way -- you're in a jostling street market where locals come to buy and sell.

Located in the roads around Wat Mai Temple. Many locals go there in the morning after the Alms giving ceremony. If you're offered something to try, remember they eat that also so if you try it be kind and don't make a bad face if you dislike it. I've tried one cake and then bought 6 😊 they were made from coconut, delicious. I've tried the leaf and well it was honeycombs but with cooked baby bee, I didn't liked it but was selling like pancakes. They sell fruit, meat, fish, herbs etc

Located near the riverside, great place to see local culture and products. Vegetables, spices, fishes... come direct from the farm freshly. Place was busy but well organized and not noisy at all. You could find some store serve coffee, noodle and porridge as well. Price seem quoted same for local and tourist (except for the souvenirs). Market open from morning till noon. So you can combine the early walk to see the monk and visit market after would be perfect.
