I wouldn't normally write a review until I am truly convinced with the consistency of a restaurant or in other rare instances when the food or service are truly beyond reprehensible, For the case with Poblano after visiting several times with the likes of my friends, colleagues and customers, I reckon it is the right time to finally share my views about this place now (No prizes for guessing it right being a positive review since I have patronised this place several times by now)
My latest visit was a few days ago on a Friday night along with my two friends. Me being the veteran after several experience here, while two of my friends are here for the first time.
So I noticed some minor changes in the menu, of course it is no longer a non halal restaurant that they used to be during the initial opening, but fret not, this place is good literally in every sense.
We have ordered the following for dinner for sharing;
Gambas - A tiger prawn tapas sautรฉed with garlic sauce & spicy tomato - You can't go wrong with this dish, just simply appetising and good for sharing since it was served with some nicely toasted bread. Of course, being the typical Malaysians that we are, we obviously requested for more bread to fill up our tummy and being a tightening of the purse string strategy since everything goes up in Malaysia, not our salary environment right now.
Braised Lamb Shank - We have a winner here as well with this succulent and juicy lamb cooked to perfection coupling with creamy smooth buttery mashed potatoes.
Stuffed Seabass - With lemon infused into the cooking, the fish tasted brilliantly refreshing and zesty as opposed to the typical seafood dishes which culminates a fishy after taste in our palate. Coupling with some degree of spiciness due to the chilli paste, it was truly delightful and doubles as a good counter balance on the first two dishes we have ordered that is greasier and heavier in flavours. Of course, the doneness was impeccable as it was not overcooked which would have impacted the texture of the fish.
Espagueti Verde - This is not particularly up to my liking since it was a pesto based pasta which is not exactly what I fancy, well it was ordered by my friend actually and I have had two bites of it. Being Asians, we needed our carbs somehow.......Much to my surprise there was a slight twist to this dish as it has a tinge of spiciness in it which was quite invigorating to the palate. Overall my friend like it, and I am ok with it.
After dinner we have ordered a Mexican Tiramisu and another Mexican Chocolate Mousse. Well we clean up the plates with these two, so I need not explain further.
As for drinks, we were going with beers all night long and surprisingly they are serving probably the coldest brew in town and a very attractive pricing that we wouldn't be expecting in a restaurant like this.
In summary, the ambience was lovely with deco nicely complimenting the theme of the cuisine that they are serving. Friendly and HANDSOME waiters (according to my lady friend). Perhaps the only drawback would be the limited parking space but this too can be averted since they have jockey service which is fairly priced at RM15 in city centre.
Overall, it has lived up to our expectations, with pocket friendly pricing in terms of food quality, dining experience that far exceeds our expectations. Highly...

Google neglects to mention that while they're open until 11pm their last kitchen orders must be placed before 9:45pm. Staff was friendly and apologetic about lacking certain items/ingredients.
This is a beautiful little spot. Latin-flavored music and not at dance club volume. Google lists this as a Mexican restaurant which is why I went. That's only marginally true. They consider themselves much more of a Latin-themed restaurant and draw recipes and ingredients from a much broader palette.
Chips and salsa is a mandatory first taste for me. Chips started out crisp, salted perfectly and I suspected might be made in house. However the first layer of crispy chips hid a basket full of broken pieces - more like the bottom of a bag of tortilla chips - and those chips were not as crisp or fresh tasting. The salsa served with them strikes me as more Italian than Latin. Perhaps it was the parsley instead of cilantro in it. A little bit of heat but hard to identify the source of it.
The fish tacos were impressively plated. The fish was breaded and fried to perfection - an excellent light outer crunch over very tender whitefish. Served in a flour tortilla atop a bed of lettuce with pico de gallo on top and some sauces. But while the texture of it all was appealing and the tortilla handled the contents admirably, the taste was incredibly mild and elusive. No strong flavor profiles but a uniformity of flavor that was frustrating. Not bad, but not memorable either. The pico de gallo was far better than the salsa with the chips but still lacked cilantro and any real heat.
I asked for hot sauce and they offered Tabasco (Cajun, not so much Mexican or Latin-inspired), and then brought a small sampling of a habenero-based sauce. It wasn't bad but lacked immediate punch, providing instead a slower, building heat that emerged several seconds after swallowing and lingered a while. I think whatever choice of vinegar they used (perhaps apple cider?!) overwhelmed the flavor of the actual habeneros.
They serve beer and alcohol as well as soft drinks and other drinks, but their selection of tequila was abysmal - only Cuervo 1800 and maybe one other lower mid-range option. I attempted to order a La Paloma but they were out of grapefruit juice. Their cocktail menu is notably lacking in tequila-based cocktails other than the ubiquitous margarita.
So if you want a nice place to sit over food or drinks this is a lovely option. I had higher hopes for the flavors but at the end of the day the vibe outshines the dine. Perhaps their other dishes...
