Embarking on a culinary adventure at a new burger joint is always an exciting endeavor. My recent visit to Nude Burger in Amsterdam left me with mixed impressions, as the establishment showed promise but bore a few rough edges that could be smoothed out to elevate the experience.
Upon entering, it's evident that Nude Burger is a relatively new addition to the scene. However, it's worth noting that they have another well-established restaurant nearby that enjoys raving reviews. This, perhaps, made me a bit more forgiving of certain shortcomings in anticipation of the restaurant's potential to grow and improve.
Pricing was a pleasant surprise as the cost aligned reasonably well with the quality of the food, unlike the all-too-common practice of inflating prices solely based on portion size. It's commendable to see an establishment focus on delivering value for money, especially in a market where many eateries struggle to strike the right balance.
As for the star of the show—the burger—it showcased an approach that was different from the overly smashed trend. While the technique had merit, it seemed like the patty might have lingered on the grill for a touch too long, leading to a lack of the desired juiciness that a perfect burger should boast.
The ingredient pairing, while an intricate dance of flavors, did encounter some missteps. The use of pepper during the smashing process resulted in a burnt undertone, which detracted from the overall taste. A smoother execution in the smashing and seasoning could significantly enhance the burger's profile.
One highlight that deserves applause was the buns. These delightful creations added an excellent touch to the experience, showcasing that attention had been paid not just to the meat but to every element of the burger.
Service, however, introduced a few quirks into the overall encounter. During a minor payment delay and while making a takeaway request, the cashier's peculiar facial expressions were hard to overlook. While these might have been inconsequential to the meal itself, they did contribute to a slightly off-kilter vibe.
Summing up the experience, Nude Burger offers a decent culinary escapade with glimpses of potential for growth. Its affiliation with another nearby restaurant with a stellar reputation hints at the brand's ability to improve and refine their offerings. With slight adjustments to cooking techniques, ingredient pairing, and service interactions, Nude Burger could confidently establish itself as a prominent player in the burger landscape. For now, it earns a respectable 3.5/5, leaving room for optimism in...
Read moreThe burgers 🍔 were quite good—tasty and messy in a good way. I would’ve liked the beef patty to be a bit juicier, but overall still solid. The fries were amazing, especially the sweet potato ones.
That said, the place feels cramped and the service can come off as rude. At one point, staff were telling people to leave because there were “no seats,” even though there were clearly empty tables upstairs.
They also got my order wrong, but at least they fixed it quickly.
Another downside—the smell of cooking oil and fumes was really strong inside, which could be annoying for some people.
The toilet 🚽 was absolutely disgusting—wet, muddy floor, really off-putting.
The burgers are definitely on the pricey side. Even though they’re big, I personally wouldn’t pay 20–25 euros for a burger again.
One cool part was the ordering system—you can just scan a QR code at the table and pay directly from your phone. But it’s all...
Read moreMy horibble experience started with the staff yelling at me for no apparent reason, When i walked throught the door. To get to my table, I had to walk up a tiny staircase. Wich i barely fit through, (fyi I am pretty slim size S) The railing was covered in grease. When i got to my table the couch was covered with multiple stains. Also the given wifi password was incorrect, and i had to figure it out myself. And when a friend of mine had to use the water closet. She Discovered the ladies bathroom was out of order. And she had to use the Gentelmens room, totally unacceptable. The food was average, but very overpriced. To add the garlic sauce i ordered tasted something like my 7 year old brother could have made with his eyes closed. I will never return to this dungeon of a diner and i do not...
