I went shopping for a few stuff because I couldn't wait for our next grocery on Thursday and at the same time, I returned the ASB card to the ASB bank that is located within the same building, where your supermarket is, that my husband found at our apartment complex but we did not know which unit the cardholder lived in.
I was on the verge of climbing the escalator when the CRETIN checkout customer service supervising the self-service checkout had me intercepted by the security guard. The security guard said that I put the two pcs of Fejoias in a bag and then weighed it again. As my reaction came late, I failed to counter or answer the security guard as to what law prohibits me from mingling the fruits in one bag. And what breaches did I commit to be stopped and inspected? Was checking the weight of two Fejioas, a violation? I weighed the Fejoias twice because I did not want to pay more than what the weight suggested nor did I want to defeat your store of the right price for the two Fejoias. I could have resisted the inspection that subjected me to indignity because you have no right to stop and ask for an inspection unless you possess a search warrant and have reasonable and probable grounds to believe that I was stealing from your store. Next time, I happen to shop at your store and you subject me to indignity, I will take you to court, so, you will answer for your...
Read moreAbysmal non-service, no staff accountability, absolute incompetence. Three out of the four self-service tills were SIMULTANEOUSLY inoperational, with two young unsupervised staff standing about, stunned and useless. This means that the "quicker" queue was at a standstill, with about 6 people queueing up, unable to make purchases. I joined the "regular", staffed queue - six tills, AND ONLY ONE WAS STAFFED. I waited for about 10 minutes in a line THAT WAS AT AN ABSOLUTE STANDSTILL and getting longer. In the "centre pod" was a badged staff member ("Customer Service Rep"???) WITH A CLEAR VIEW OF THE CHAOS AND THE CUSTOMERS UNABLE TO MAKE PURCHASES, who instead continued to discus something less important with another till operator. NO EFFORT WHATSOEVER WAS MADE TO ENGAGE WITH CUSTOMERS, OR SOLVE THEIR PROBLEMS THAT WERE PREVENTING PURCHASES. WHERE ON EARTH WERE THE STAFF THAT WERE OBVIOUSLY REQUIRED AT THAT TIME TO ATTEND TO CUSTOMERS, PLEASE? Because what little time I had had all been wasted by New World's Metro's incompetence, I left without being able to make the purchases that I needed. I used to spend a great deal of money multiple times a day at this supermarket, and from now on I will be going elsewhere for my purchases. PLEASE SACK THE...
Read moreThis is the closest grocery store near our hotel/apt on Bankside. This place will have everything you need in terms of food for a couple of days of visiting Auckland. We have breakfast and dinner at our place to keep dining cost down. It's a good thing we did as the prices at the restaurants downtown are quite high. We found the prices on certain items to be quite expensive at this grocery store, especially pharmacy items like aspirin and cold medicine, so bring those along with you if you're traveling here.
The aisles can be narrow if there are a lot of people, but New Zealanders are very polite.
This grocery store also offers prepared foods for lunch and dinner. They also offer wine. If you're visiting, try the New Zealand wines.
For check out, they have do-it-yourself check out machines as well as check out counters with people. People tend to line up in one line, so if you're in line and there are people ahead of you, you can use the machines if no one ahead of you is planning...
