Victoria Island, Lagos — Attraction in Lagos State

The main business Centre of Lagos state. Most of the views is know to be very attractive on camera. If you ever wonder why Directors use the location so often. I have shot 2 music video on the Island and the visual was stunning.

Also known as Marina, busy Lagos Island draws crowds to Onikan Stadium, hosting concerts and soccer matches, and Freedom Park, a former prison complex now home to African music festivals and art exhibitions. Long-standing Idumota Market offers clothing and fabrics, while street-food stalls sell suya, bole, and fried yam and plantains. The landmark Tafawa Balewa Square is dotted with war memorials...

Highbrow area of the Lagos metropolis. The island is beautiful and neat, the streets are not like the usual (typical) Lagos street.

It also has beaches to relax and cool off. Most companies have thier head quarters in this part of the state. Majority of the foreign embassies (United States, Chinese, etc) in Lagos are located in Victoria Island.

Getting around the island easily is by tricycles; whose drivers seem to know every street and can maneuver through traffic, all this come at a cheap fair.

My family lived in VI from 1965 to 1975 . I left Nigeria in 1975 and came back in 2014.

For me VI is where I grew up and it has always been home to me.

Certainly a lot has changed since I first knew it as a wide expanse of sand ; the sea and that cool breeze .

Some of the changes are alarming in particular sonce its clear that the original masterplan for development has not been followed . Still the memories of an idyllic childhood are evoked each time I visit...
