Couldn't leave Cusco without trying cuy, so we came here for dinner on our last night. The three of us weren't super hungry so we shared the cuy and the pepper steak. We didn't know what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised by the cuy! Great seasoning, and so tender. We appreciated that they only serve a half portion of the guinea pig and not the entire thing as we wouldn't have been able to eat it all. The vegetables on the side were just okay and a bit bland, we ended up adding the chimichurri that came with the warm potato bread. The pepper steak was a nice medium rare and served over a big portion of mashed potatoes.
For drinks we ordered their Limonada Andina and Lo Maximo ("The Most") - I would recommend both! Very light and refreshing.
Service is friendly and courteous, and food arrived quickly. We had originally ordered the rib eye but were told afterwards that they had run out (so we switched to the pepper steak) - however, this was early in the evening when we were the only diners there so the dish didn't just run out. One suggestion is to make sure the staff is aware of what is available and what is not at the beginning of service.
The restaurant is comfortable and spacious. We arrived just before 6pm and it never got super busy while we were there. Good location too, right by Cusco...
Read moreOn our last night in Cusco, my wife and I went for dinner at Jonas Restaurant, which is quite close to the central square. The restaurant offered small complimentary bread balls with a chimichurri sauce. I got a gin limoncello cocktail, which was delicious and refreshing. As an appetizer, we got a fresh, mixed ceviche, which included shrimp, calamari, and octopus in a yellow sauce, which was delicious. As a main course, we ordered a mixed earth and sea platter, which includes steak, shrimp, chicken, octopus (all grilled) and fries and salad. I got the chocolate domo as dessert, which is a hollow chocolate shell stuffed with red fruits. It is served with a warm, sweet sauce which is poured over the chocolate to melt it as seen...
Read moreThe food was really good. My only gripe was that my boyfriend ordered the lamb shank and I ordered the lamb ribs (we like to share our food to try different stuff), the server took our order like nothing was wrong. Then when our food came out we both had the lamb ribs. When questioned she told my boyfriend that he had the lamb shank so then I asked her why didn't I get the lamb ribs and she told me I had the lamb ribs..... She then got a menu to try and explain her lie but ended up telling us they were out of lamb shank and that the ribs were the same but didn't give us an option to change his order, she made the choice for us.... Shame on the server, not shame on...
