Casa Andina Standard Cusco Catedral — Hotel in Distrito de Cusco

We really enjoyed our stay here. The early morning buffet (with some gluten free options) was a big plus since we had to leave before most restaurants in Cusco opened, and the staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Everyone was very friendly, spoke English, and made us feel welcome. I also loved that they always had coca-tea available, which was perfect for the altitude. They also offer luggage storage, which was very convenient. A small note for some travelers: there is no elevator, only stairs. During our first stay, our room faced the street and it was a bit noisy with music at night. On our second visit, we requested an interior room, which was much quieter and more comfortable. First, let me say I am very suspicious of so many 5 star ratings. While I would probably stay here again if needed this hotel does not merit 5 starts.||The pros:|1. Very well located near the main square|2. Very nice and helpful staff|3. Spacious room|4. Good hot water|5. Adequate breakfast||The cons:|1. The room could have been cleaned better. The room was not properly vacuumed. There were hairs left from previous guests on the bed.|2. Shower grout and edges were moldy and turning black. This could be taken care of with a good bleach cleaning. |3. There is no elevator. Make sure you understand this when booking in this hotel that you will need to walk up stairs to your room — and there are a lot of stairs. Older folks might have a problem. |4. We had the absolute BEST stay at Casa Andina Standard Catedral. The hotel was perfectly located next to all of the tourist attractions, was very clean and well kept, and we can’t say enough good things about it. The staff was exceptionally kind and accommodating, helping recommend excellent restaurants and holding onto our luggage when we were out on excursions. We highly recommend this hotel — they even gave us a courtesy upgrade!
