Stayed February 2025 After a long day of traveling with a 10-year-old who wasn't feeling well, we checked into our two-bedroom self-contained apartment located in a seperate building opposite the hotel, which offered city views for $900 AUD per night. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff were helpful, assisting us with our bags across the road to our room.

The apartment is spacious and clean, featuring a large lounge, dining area, kitchen, washing facilities, and two small verandas overlooking the main street. We arrived on Thursday afternoon around 3:30 PM, only to be greeted by loud construction noises from the building next door, which continued until 5:30 PM.

Our troubles continued on Friday morning when we were woken up at 8 AM by drilling on the wall adjacent to our beds. When I called to explain the situation, I received a call back thirty minutes later, informing me that our only option was to move into two smaller hotel rooms with no view for an additional $380 AUD per night. My husband went to speak with management in person to express our concerns, but he was told that all the managers were in a meeting and that nothing could be done. They claimed it was not the hotel’s problem that the construction noise was disturbing the guests. I have uploaded some photos and videos of the construction site next to my bedroom verandah (not sure if google is allowing video).

We spent the rest of Friday out during the day and were not bothered by the noise. On Friday night, I checked the hotel’s website and found that, contrary to what we were told, there were several different room types available, and the difference in cost was $1,300, not $1,500 as stated.

I sent an email to management seeking a resolution, expressing our willingness to move to a smaller room but without any additional cost. I highlighted that the extra charge was excessive and more than what was advertised online. Saturday and Sunday were quiet since the construction site was closed, but we received no response from management.

Today is Monday, and drilling started again on the bedroom wall at 8:30 AM. We are booked here until Tuesday, and we cannot wait to leave. Needless to say, I do not recommend this hotel. I am extremely upset by this experience, and the lack of sleep has left me feeling exhausted. For $900 per night at a five-star hotel, I expected at least a guarantee of sleep and exceptional customer service. Unfortunately, I encountered nothing but appalling customer service and a company that prioritises profits over the well-being of its customers.

Other points to note: there are no blackout curtains in the room, making sleep difficult. There is no mineral water, tea, bath robes or washing powder provided. Additionally, we were informed at check-in that to use the steam room or spa, we needed to book in advance and pay an extra 25 euros per adult per hour. The area is extremely touristy; for a more authentic Barcelona experience, I recommend staying near the Gothic Quarter and El Born, where there are many better...

My wife and I just completed a week long Virgin voyages cruise around Mediterranean. I decided to book one night prior and one night post cruise at two different hotels in bcn. Last Saturday we stayed at the monument hotel (second time there) and it was perfect. Attentive polite staff, excellent accommodation and on site 3 star Lasarte restaurant was great. Today we checked into majestic hotel across the street from monument. They are both “five star” hotels and both part of Chase luxury hotel collection as well as Amex fine hotels. We’ve stayed at many many diff high level hotels and resorts around the world and I’ve never ever seen anything as poorly run as this place. There are many options in this area such as mandarin oriental and monument hotels. The level of rudeness and unprofessionalism at the managerial level is beyond expectation in the worst possible way. We disembarked from the ship at 10am and were at the hotel by 1030. We checked in assuming our room wasn’t ready based on the amount of people in the lobby. We were told check in time is 3pm but there would be a note put into the computer that we arrived and as soon as the room freed up they would prioritize the housekeeping for it. We left our bags and went for a long walk u til about 1pm when I inquired on the status of the room to be told it’s currently being worked on and would be ready soonish. We sat in the lobby until 255 patiently waiting for the phone call to come get the keys. The call never came. My wife went to inquire a second time to be told we didn’t actually miss any phone calls because the room is still being attended to. By this time it was 305pm (with a guaranteed check in at 3). She requested to speak to a manager to get some sort of explanation for the delay. At 310, a “manager” showed up. (Three diff people were already in line to speak to this manager regarding various/ pretty serious issues). The response- your room will be ready in 15 minutes. Our question- why? Response- because it’s a big room it takes a long time to clean. I told him this is an unacceptable answer to me. Response- I’m sorry but it will be 15 minutes. I told him I heard him the first time but it’s not an answer. He didn’t care if I did cartwheels in front of him he looked me straight in the eye and said it’s too bad but right now it’s going to be 15 minutes. I realized we weren’t getting anywhere with this talk so I let the next guest go. 14 minutes later he showed up with a key, led us to the elevator said I apologize for delay thank you and you’re welcome. If you are looking for a true 5 star hotel experience in Barcelona in the center of town I highly, highly discourage staying here. The location is prime; the room is ok, the level of service is absolutely the worst possible I could ever describe. I can’t fathom how this manager could’ve gotten a position in hospitality at a 5 star hotel with the rudeness and attitude that he presents his guests. Absolutely disgusting. And I will be sure to pass along these thoughts to anyone i know traveling to or...

I had my luggage stolen because of Majestic Hotel.

This story is so wild I still can’t wrap my head around it. After checking in to the Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona, someone from the bell desk left the main hotel with our luggage and when he got to the residence across the hotel, my carry on luggage was missing. I swear I never leave this bag behind but he insisted and I thought it would be ok because it was a short distance and at the end of the day, this is a 5 star hotel. Big mistake.

After they dropped off our luggage I called them to say my carry on was missing. They said they’ll bring it right over. After 10 mins I got nervous and checked the airtag I had inside and it was traveling away from the hotel- and was 8 miles away at that point.

I rushed to reception and told them what happened. The reception manager literally couldn’t be bothered. His first response to me was “This is Barcelona, there are professional thieves.” I’m sorry, what??? I trusted the hotel with my bags and when one goes missing his response was “there are professional thieves”??? Um, it was YOUR HOTEL’s responsibility to make sure that doesn’t happen.

I insisted they check their security footage and they confirmed that when the bell desk guy left with our luggage it was on the cart, but when he arrived across the street it was gone.

I cried in disbelief and asked them to call the police, they told me I had to go to the station myself. I had to sit at a foreign police station and have the entire story told, retold and translated over and over again. I couldn’t stop crying from frustration, but I kept tracking it. It made a stop for a while and I assumed they took the tracker and tossed it. I still kept tracking it and showed the police the new address and they said it was a police station. I got in a car and had him drive 40 mins to the outskirts of the city to a different police station.

The person who found my bag and took it to the police station said he found my bag upright in the middle of the street as if someone left it there. He took the bag and then a guy ran after him and said "hey, that's my bag!" Luckily, he didn’t believe him. He took it home and opened it and took photos of what was inside and sent it to the police. He left his name, address and phone number if anyone reported it missing. After hearing the facts from the police and the person who turned the bag in, I’m certain that a Good Samaritan happened to get in the way of someone stealing my luggage.

After the hotel LEFT MY LUGGAGE on the street for someone to steal, which ruined my day and caused me to spend 6 hours of my first day in Barcelona going from police station to police station to find my own bag, Manuel tried to offer me a free breakfast and a massage. Really? My trip was ruined. After 3 days of arguing with the hotel and getting upper management involved they eventually comped half my stay + some extras. But what was done, was done, Majestic Hotel completely ruined my trip to Barcelona.

Do yourself a favor and...
