Museum par excellence of the Balearic Islands. Institution focused on presenting to the public high quality artistic creation produced both in the Balearic Islands and around the world. For me it is one of those must-see places whenever you are in Palma, it is really worth checking what is presented in its rooms since the proposals of recent years are mainly of a social nature and the dialogue with the viewer is ever deeper.

For us this museum was mostly a disappointment. There were only two exhibitions at the moment (about normopathy and about Walter Benjamin) and the main area was closed off in preparation for the new show. However they didn’t mention that so we found out only later. The normopathy exhibit was interesting and had a good story line and some good pieces. The Walter Benjamin one was very repetitive and uninspired. The air conditioning was too strong causing it to be chilly in the museum. The building and the surroundings are gorgeous and we would love to come back when they have new shows.

The museum is definitely worth visiting in my opinion. We bought the tickets at the entrance and didn't need to wait. However do I get the art and what the artist is trying to tell me? No, not at all. One part of the exhibition was unfortunately in repair/not avaible so that was a bit disappointing. The view from the musuem however was absolutely stunning. If you are around check it out in case of needing to waste some time.

Built on three levels with ramps connecting the indoor exhibition spaces with the outdoor ones and the city walls. Being situated on high level, the outdoor spaces gives a view of the city and its bay. The museum opened in 2004 with an aim to give Palma a touch of artsy touristique destination. Admission fee: 6 euros (reduced: 4 euros) this does not include the temporary exhibitions: 4 euros (reduced: 3 euros)

A return visit to the gallery after several years. Well worth the time and entrance price to see thought provoking contemporary are - some of it challenging and others wonderfully creative. The multimedia exhibits made me reconsider my approach to viewing art. The building itself is a major attraction in itself and with the added bonus of wonderful views of Palma and the surronding mountains and bay.
