I went to Mae Thai Express in Hötorget for a late lunch meal.
I think this is the best Thai Restaurant I’ve visited so far in Stockholm. It is right next to Hötorget square. The restaurant comprises of the kitchen with a retractable roof, outdoor seating.
There are heating lamps on both left and right of the eating aree to keep you warm when it gets cold.
The staff were very friendly. I ask the nice lovely staff member Hanny what dish she recommends. She told me to go for the 19. Cashew Wok. Hanny, also gave me complementary spring rolls. Which was very kind of her.
She was not wrong, the dish was just a delight! The dish had stir fried cashew nuts, stir fry sauce , chilli paste & vegetables, chicken. Rice is included.
I really enjoyed the dish. There were so many different flavours, the crunchy nuts, spicy chill sauce, fried vegetables, and the chicken piece were tasty, soft and tender.
The portion of the dish is very generous.
On the counter to right, they have different kind of sauces ( chilli sauces , soya sauce, fish sauce, siracha. They also have free prawn chips snack on while waiting for your food.
You can also help yourself to some complementary water and cups.
I will definitely visiting Mae Thai again and try a different meal when I’m back in Stockholm for work.
I give this Thai 🇹🇭 restaurant five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I recommend locals and tourists to visit this lovely small delicious...
Read moreI was first sceptical to eat food here so I went to the other Thai restaurant in the same area but it was not that good and more expensive. I read reviews here on Google about Mae Thai and yes I am happy that I was here trying thai authentic food. I ordered deep fried chicken for my son and stir fried beef with basil leaves. My food was really good, tasty and it was exactly what we Thai eat in Thailand.
Our second time here was also a good experience. We ordered original Pad Thai with shrimp and deep fried chicken for my son. This time we ordered kid portion for the kid and it's still enough for him. Mine was Pad Thai and the taste is increase good. It's not oily, not too sweet. I have been travelling quite a lot and this is the best Pad Thai I have eaten outside Thailand.
(We have been to other Thai restaurant in the same area but the taste wasn't really good as we expected. That restaurant even offered buffet for lunch from Monday to Friday and buffet for dinner on weekends. The food was cold, tasteless).
We have been at Mae Thai twice and we will come back here again... I strongly recommend everyone to try Pad Thai and stir fried beef with basil leaves at...
Read moreNice little Thai spot near Hötorget. This place feels more like a street-food stall than a full restaurant, with limited covered seating available. Which is totally fine and it gives a nice authentic Thai vibe to the place. We had to wait a little while to get a table, but it was worth it.
You order at the counter and pick up your food when your number is called—fast and efficient.
We tried the green and red curries with rice. Both were very generous, packed with chicken, shrimp, not that much fresh veggies though. The curries were creamy, pretty flavorful. Not the explosion of flavor I experienced many times in Thailand though. The “3-chilli” spice level was milder than expected, but the taste was still good. I would have preferred way more spicy though, that is why I chose the most spicy dish on the menu.
Overall: tasty, creamy curries with plenty of ingredients, big portions, quick service, and good value for money. Perfect for a casual lunch or dinner in...
