I had the most unreal time here at Yunomori Onsen & Spa (Sathorn 10)! Wowzie! This place has become my new happy spot, no doubt about it. The Garden Lounge room was a slice of heaven – that nap was out of this world, and I woke up feeling like a million bucks. The onsen facilities were absolute perfection, transporting me back to my trip to Japan and those unforgettable onsens. While nothing holds a candle to places like Kinosaki in Japan, for a fraction of the price and none of the long travel, you're getting something truly special right here in Bangkok. We hopped on the BTS to Saint Louis, and from there, it's just a short, breezy walk to Yunomori. Once we arrived, it was 550 THB per person for the onsen experience (we skipped the massage package this time). First, we stored our shoes in a foot locker, handed over the key at reception, and made our way to the respective men’s and women’s onsen floors. They handed us yukatas and towel sets, and with wristbands in hand, we unlocked our personal lockers. Before jumping into those heavenly onsen waters, we hit the showers for a proper scrub-down. And, just to sweeten the deal, there’s a steam room and sauna to enjoy as well. Onsen rookie tip: you gotta strip down to your birthday suit. If going full commando in front of strangers isn’t your thing, maybe stick to the hotel pool where you can keep your dignity...and your shorts. But hey, if you're ready to "Onsen like a pro, let it go like a bro!" One thing that raised an eyebrow was seeing some tourists dipping their little towels into the onsen water—something that’s strictly against the rules. It seemed like they didn’t get the memo, despite the rules being crystal clear on the walls. It was a minor hiccup in an otherwise serene experience, though. The waters were a dream, with a range of temperatures that could melt anyone's stress away. I felt that a touch more Japanese landscaping would have really tied the atmosphere together, but the facilities were impressively clean and well-kept (aside from one toilet that could’ve used a bit more elbow grease). All in all, this place is worth its weight in gold if you’re looking to let your worries melt away. We stayed for a solid five hours—no food, just napping, soaking, and I even squeezed in some Kindle time. We walked out feeling completely rejuvenated, like we’d been given a new lease on life. While no place is perfect, this one comes pretty close. More staff could have been around to keep everything spotless, particularly the men’s toilets, but other than that, Yunomori really hit the mark for...
Read moreHere is how to visit the Onsen for new visitors (male):
To the left, there is a shoe locker. Wear the sandal, put your shoe inside locker and bring the key to cashier. You have to pay in advance.
You will be given a bracelet for your locker. Go to second floor. Scan your bracelet to check in. They will give you a big and a small towel. Take the yukata and yukata belt if you still want to hangout there after bath.
Find your locker, put all your stuff inside, get naked. The only thing you can bring inside the onsen is the small towel.
Go inside the onsen area. There is a shower area with small stools there, shower first.
Take your time and try out different baths and sauna. Most walk around naked but you can use the small towel to cover. The small towel shouldn't go inside the bath water so you have to take it off before you sit down. There is a water dispenser between the onsen and changing room, keep yourself hydrated.
Once you're done, I suggest you to finish with a cold bath. Then dry yourself with the small towel first before you get out of the onsen area. If you pay for the onsen only, you can wear yukata and hangout, and then come back to the onsen for the second time if you want to.
Review: It's a legit japanese style onsen (or sento?) so you have to be naked. I initially came here because I was curious. I'm a shy person but ended up going 3 times because the baths are nice for my itchy skin. The tea bath and silk bath are my favourite. They also have 2 cold baths.
As a man, you can request shorts if you are shy but everyone else will be naked so I don't think you should be bothered. I've been there 3 times and only find 2 people wearing shorts.
It is a crowded place. I come in the morning and there are always 8-10 people. There will be a lot more people in the afternoon so go in the morning if you want a relaxing experience. Sukhumvit branch is less crowded in the morning but I still prefer Sathorn branch because this have more baths to choose from. The silk bath is nice and not too hot.
There are some cons though, some of the baths are too hot, especially the boiling one and the tea bath sometimes.
I haven't experience the massage here but visiting the onsen is enough. It is not a gay venue and nothing sexual allowed here. I do notice a lot of fit guys come here and lots of glances here and there, just ignore it, nothing will happen. This place is pretty family friendly and I would recommend this place to anyone interested in...
