Are you planning a stay in Birmingham? Do you feel as if you will never find a good place to stay whilst you are here? Well never say never again because from Russia with love comes Travel Lodge and Moor Street.
I am here on business in Birmingham staying at this wonderful Travel lodge. However, I am truly shaken but not stirred by the incredible high level of customer service even though I have only been here a few hours.
When I arrived I did the usual “The name is Bond, James Bond” as I came in. This extremely friendly young lady said they were expecting a James Bond. “We’ve been expecting you Mr Bond!” I showed her my ID. It turned out her name was Miranda. I was half expecting her to say Miranda Frost from Die Another Day. Well I would say that!
We had a bit of a laugh when she looked on the system and found my number ends in 007! I told her that if you call my secretary she answers to the name of moneypenny!
Now when I unpacked I realised I had left some essentials at home. I went to reception and asked how to get to the tesco that I passed on the way. I am hopeless with directions and instructions just like my namesake from the movies. She pointed me out to the tesco round the corner that was about 20 seconds walk away. On coming back I asked her how to get to the venue where my event was. In true friendly fashion this young lady pointed out how to get there.
My room was spotless when I arrived and it’s so comfortable. However I have only been there less than a few hours and I am very taken back by the incredible level of customer service.
So the usual questions. Is it worth the money? Good value at 10 times the price. Would I stay here again? With such a level of customer service I’d be a fool not to.
Would I recommend this hotel to anyone else? In a heartbeat. What is my recommendation to the public? With such a level of high customer service I’d say anytime you come to Birmingham stay at the Travel Lodge on...

What it doesn't say is that this building work involves blocking off the windows in the rooms as there is a scaffolding platform directly outside the room windows (see photo). This means there is no window and no view. It also means that you can see the shadows of the builders working on the scaffolding directly outside the window. You can also hear them shouting. The room feels part of the building site. |Problem two - While we were getting dressed in the morning, a cleaner walked in without knocking in order to prepare the room for the next guests. Apparently she had been told that we had already checked out. This was at 8.30am so was nowhere near the checkout time of 12.00. I mentioned this to the assistant manager on the way out, and she was apologetic and told me that a refund would be processed. This never happened, so I contacted Travelodge, and the best they can offer is a free breakfast on my next visit (this assumes that I will be staying in a Travelodge again which is highly unlikely). I didn't feel that my complaint was addressed well enough, and I find their promise that they will be putting training in place to ensure that cleaners don't walk into occupied rooms laughable. Is training really required to know that you don't just let yourself in to an occupied room?!|Please also note that there is no breakfast room at this Travelodge, so if you want a cooked breakfast you will need to go...
