Read moreI went with my friend who's obsessed with Parrots.
Parking was next door (not included) you need pay separately for that. Generally park looks like it need financial help - support. Very untidy, lack of employes, atmosphere looks like they just expect people sit and eat in expensive coffee shop and do not focus on anything else. I love penguins and flamingos but it's not enough for price of the ticket. On another site of coffee shop called "The Nest" could be Pandemonium of Parrots... But in real life all units were empty! I spotted two sad parrots - one sitting at the corner, another in very small wooden house. I'm pretty sure there was a note "over 237 spices of parrot". Anyway the worse experience was later when we entered to "promising" dinosaur park... I was shocked who had that idea? Broken car in entrance was more interresting than the content inside the park.
We left with mixed feelings, bit sad people have no ideas or passion for running park like this.
On the end I said good bye to Scarlet Macau (Ara) - some photographer who looks like is working there told us the bird speak sometimes. It just watched us like it won't be there anymore and it's face broke our hearts.
I'm summary I would say it's not worth to go there at all. But you could go and judge it yourself. On the end of the day you may just have hope your money feed the birds in poorly...
Read moreI've been coming to Birdland every year since I can remember, way back when the whole colony was from the Batman movies - or so my mother informs me! So, I fondly remember growing up seeing Seth and friends - sorry, Spike! - and I'm glad I can now share my love of Birdland with my young niece and nephew and friends who have never visited before.
The penguins are always the highlight of my visit. But it's also lovely to see the other birds, too, especially the young flamingo chicks and the owls. My niece and nephew love the colourful parrots and macaws, too, and the dinosaur nature reserve is a firm favourite. Yes, it's overgrown - but isn't that how a nature reserve should be!? Untouched and left to grow more naturally.
I was also pleased to see screens across the penguin pool viewing area. I've seen videos on social media of people touching them and encouraging others to do so!... It's great to see this is now deterred. The new pool and enclosure is looking great, and I love the subtle nod to former resident 'Missy', too.
The staff and keepers are always very friendly and knowledgeable, and we enjoyed watching the penguin feed. We were also lucky enough to see a snippet of Pablo and Splash being read and got 2 books signed. A fab day out, and as an annual pass holder, I'll definitely...
