Not worth for family with small children out of season. No car parking, shop closed, toilets closed. Fair enough, it doesn't open until May. Then going for a walk: iron age house replica closed (we didn't expect to be able to go in it but you can only look from afar through a locked fence). Maybe a picnic by the lake as we've seen photos of a lake and water with stepping stones? Eh, no. The lake is private property with a fenced off path alongside it, you cant sit anywhere or get anywhere close to the lake, it was like walking in a prison alley. And where are the stepping stones? At the top end of the map, our kids could have never gotten there. So we walked through a few fields with nothing much to see. However, a nice greenish retreat if you're looking to escape busy Bourton on the water, plus...

Users of mobility scooters- Please note that despite being mostly level and with no stiles, there are kissing gates and steps which necessitated practically dismantling my husband's all terrain trike in order to proceed, something he could not have managed on his own. There were also two 10ft wide gates with stepover sections for pedestrians. The alternative was to fully open them which I struggled with. These obstacles were not shown on the notice board map which was a great shame as it is a lovely site, but not for the less mobile. We were hoping to have a baguette as shown on the menu, but were told they didn't have any bread or baguettes and the staff seemed to be just muddling along. Hopefully just teething problems after recently reopening, but obviously in need of some proper...

One of the most picturesque and unique nature reserves that blends the historical aspects of the site well with the naturals aspects. The site itself is not huge but there are some lovely walks around it with some informative information boards detailing both the historical and natural elements. There is a cafe on site offering a good menu of refreshments and also small selection of gifts, which overall is excellent. The staff are helpful and friendly and the discovery barn offers a good insight into the historical and natural parts of the site. Overall a good place and somewhere to escape to from the vibrant centre of...

We were in bourtin in the water and decided to come to this location! It was raining a lot so was not sure what to expect but there was nobody on the room that described the place but we heared them from another room? They opened the toilet for us but it would have been nice to be told what this place is and to have more interaction. The calfs were there which was lovely but just felt since it wasn’t on a weekend nothing was open and just felt underwhelmed. The house was cool but again it was closed so it will be good to have some clear signs showing whats open what is not and to have somebody describe the place for us.
