Very dissatisfied with unfair treatment by staff at this cafe. Arrived at 10.30 and was given a breakfast menu. My husband, sister and i had coffee. We were seated upstairs. At 11.40 we tried to order a breakfast from the menu and were told we could not it was too late. In the hour we had been drinking coffee no member of staff had come to our table to ask if we wanted to order a breakfast. In fact no staff had spoken to us at all. The weirdest thing was that the two tables next to us were looking at breakfast menus, whilst we were being told we could NOT order a breakfast. I mentioned this and the staff member just said we were too late, even though we arrived at 10.30 before all the other people around us. She then left our table and took the BREAKFAST ORDERS from the two tables next to us, who had come into the cafe after us. There was only one person upstairs in the cafe when we arrived. We couldn't believe this. I went downstairs to speak to the staff. I seriously thought there had been some misunderstanding. It was true, they would not allow us to order a breakfast, but the other tables next to us had not yet ordered and were then allowed to order breakfast. We felt confused, upset and singled out. We sucked it up and ordered 2 paninins and a jacket pot. This took one hour to arrive!! The whole think made us feel uncomfortable and horrible. What a way to treat customers. I still can't believe how badly we were treated. The cafe obviously feels it has more than enough custom with tourists, that staff do not have to worry about how customers feel. I think it is unlikely we will ever come back. By the way i do not like being called 'my love' by a member of staff at the end of every sentence. i feel it is inappropriate, patronising and...

Well, where do I start? Ok, let's start from the time I entered the restaurant with my wife and my young child and I had the three witches of Burton look at us like we were aliens. One witch walks up to us and asks if we were ok to sit on the floor above and we said yes. As I took the stairs, I noticed the diners staring at me probably because we were an asian family entering the lair of the white witches of Burton. We took our table and a few minutes later, an ugly looking middle aged woman walked up to us to take our order and it was not just her face that was ugly but her demeanour as well. She had this sarcastic look on her face. I took an instant disliking towards her. I told her that I want the fried eggs flipped over and she could not comprehend what I was saying even though I spoke perfect English. The food was alright. I would say less than average fare. When I went over the counter to pay, the three witches stared at me again and the ugly one came over to the cash counter to take my payment. I presented my card and it got declined, she immediately and rudely shoved the payment machine onto my face to show me the message on the screen. So I presented the card again and it declined again and she this time read the message out aloud hoping that I would get embarrased but I cooly presented another card and it was accepted. This restaurant is rotten wine in a broken bottle. Don't step in here if you wish to have a nice day and a nice meal. The waitresses lack professionalism and are out of...

When we first walked in the cafe, the host with the loud patronising voice asked in a rude tone if she can "help" us. We said we wanted a table and then she told us to sanitise our hands in a really patronising manner which is fine because we are in a pandemic but her attitude was poor. In terms of food and drink, the tea was good and the cake was a bit dry but my main complaint was the customer service or the lack of it as a matter of fact. My dad paid at the counter as no one bothered to even approach our table so that we can request for our bill and the rest of us stayed seated in our table. Upon walking out of the cafe we said "thank you" and was bidding farewell to the staff at the counter. However, the response we received wasn't gratitude. Instead we were spoken to as if we were doing a runner and not paying for our food which was absolutely unacceptable! My dad said to the lady that we had already paid and I don't think she took our word for it. Customer service needs re-evaluating...

What a delightful spot for a cream tea! The scones were absolutely scrumptious—fresh, warm, and with the perfect crumbly texture. Sitting upstairs is a must! The first table by the window, overlooking the serene canal, is pure magic. The view is stunning and adds such a special touch to the experience. The service was fine, though it could have been a bit more friendly and less direct—nothing major, just a touch impersonal. But honestly, the charming setting more than made up for it! I had such a lovely time and would probably come back, especially to snag that dreamy upstairs table again. Highly recommend for a cozy, picturesque treat! 🫖

A lovely little traditional cafe. Plenty of seating with great views from the first floor out over the town. The menu is good with a nice selection of hot and cold sandwiches. Drinks are standard fair but well priced and the staff were lovely and friendly. Everything was nice and clean and although busy service was swift. A great little place well worth a visit in the area.

A cafe placed on a strategic place in a touristic village. We enjoyed here a lunch of a jacket potato with coleslaw. This order took quite a while before it was brought to the table. The potatoes were tasty and a pleasure to eat. I ordered also a vanilla milkshake but while refreshing it was far too sweet to my taste.
