Absolutely awful food and experience. Whilst on holiday in the area we had hoped to have a nice meal out to celebrate my husband's birthday, so booked a table online earlier in day. Booking wasn't actually needed as it was virtually empty. On trying to order our meals we were told they had no rump steak as they were running stuff down as changing their menus which meant I had to have sirloin steak which I'm not over keen on and it was more expensive. My husband had something different. When the food arrived my husband managed to eat his even though the chicken was over cooked, but I left most of my meal as the steak was overcooked - more well done rather than medium, peas and tomato were hardly cooked. Staff were busy chatty and no staff came to check on us until they went to clear the plates and saw what was left and was surprised when we said it was a rubbish meal. They went off to sort the meal and came back with amount of money I had paid for the meal. Afterwards we went to a local shop and mentioned the awful meal, and when we visited the shop a few days later they recognised us and said that a couple of other people came in the previous time we did and also said they had experienced a bad meal. So when were back next year, we will be avoiding this place due to quality of food and lack of decent service.

We visited bourton on the water for the first time yesterday and wow what a beautiful place. We didn't arrive till quite late in the afternoon and we were all starving. We decided to try the knights bridge. There were lots of tables in the beer garden and the weather was glorious, so we chose to sit outside. The menu was great, and they had a good selection of draught beer. We also had our dog with us and they even had a small menu of food for dogs to enjoy. I thought this was great. The food came out quickly and was all piping hot. I chose a salad and it was all fresh ingredients and was very nice. We also had my three children with us and they can be really fussy, but they all ate there meals and commented how nice the food was. The staff were all friendly and the pub inside and out was kept clean. All in all we all had a pleasant few hours sitting In the sun.

This pub had the best pint of ale in town (I tried all of them because I'm a degenerate). They'd just tapped the Hobgoblin gold and it's a delight when fresh. The issue with this pub is the food is highly limited to standard British pub grub, things that come in 50 shades of beige, if you like. Also, not exactly the pubs fault, but it is completely packed with tourists because of its ideal location and authentic exterior/interior (it's hiding behind the beautiful tree in my photo). Realistically, we drank a pint there twice in one day. Once because we hadn't been there yet, and once more because on our walk back to the BnB it started raining very heavily. I can think of two other pubs in Bourton that I'd rather be stuck in the rain in, but without knowing more the Kingsbridge passes the sniff test and is perfectly fine for a pint.

This has got to be one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the 30 minute wait for a soup, to our main meals coming out cold. We sent one back and it was microwaved and brought back out, when it should’ve been replaced. All meals were only warm but according to the GM Claire, they’re all temperature probed before being served, which I do not believe in the slightest but couldn’t be bothered to argue about the other two meals being lukewarm at best. Not to mention the roast potatoes were not cooked fully! I found what I presumed to be a bone in my Yorkshire pudding, I informed the server who took it into the kitchen to speak to the chef, Claire then came over to the table and stated ‘I hear we have problems with the meals’ I tried to explain the situation with the Yorkshire pudding but I was swiftly told I was WRONG, stating it was part of the Yorkshire pudding and cross contamination isn’t possible, she had the cheek to argue with me infront of other guests, and when I asked for the bone back, lo and behold it had been thrown away because I quote ‘it crumbled in the servers hand’ when I physically couldn’t bite through it. Claire point blank lied to me, and having been a general manager in hospitality for the better part of 15 years within TRG, I think I’m fully aware of the risks of cross contamination. But considering the evidencewas disposed of, the company who you buy your batter from, can’t rectify the problem if that is infact where it came from. Claire also stated that ‘they make vegan meals so it can’t be a bone because vegans eat Yorkshire puddings’ Her attitude and demeanour when speaking to paying guests is appalling and she could benefit from retraining, she made what should’ve been a lovely lunch with my mum and best friend, who travelled 160 miles to see me, an absolutely awful experience. As you can see from other negative reviews, her argumentative behaviour is relayed in the replies she gives to the customers leaving reviews, it seems it’s her word or nothing at all considering she has an answer for everything.

Thankfully, James was wonderful for our visit, bringing biscuits over for our pups and making a fuss of them and making sure we were okay. James is a credit to Marstons. Polite, friendly, personable and professional. He should be the GM. The 5* service is...

I should have read the reviews. Food all over the dirty carpet, picked one table it was sticky, so was the next one. Town packed with tourists but pub almost deserted should have told us all we needed to know. Drinks were ok but if you’re going to serve orange in a highball glass please put ice in, or even offer it as a third of orange in a tall glass is an insult and looks stupid. Food was awful. I ate mine because I was being treated by my friends, I didn’t want to make a fuss. Don’t have the steak and ale pie, they don’t cook it in the oven it is microwaved. The crust and lid was so hard I could have used it as a frisbee. How I didn’t break teeth I don’t know. The chips were actually nice. The gravy was out of a packet but at least it was edible, the pie was not. Guys if you’re going to desiccate a pie in the microwave, at least offer enough gravy to drown it, not a thimbleful! The peas were absolutely VILE. Hard, raw, uncooked and tasteless bullets. Small wonder there were so many strewn all over the carpet in the restaurant. We didn’t bother with puddings, we decided to go to a cafe further up and have a decent drink and sweet. As a final aside, we used the toilets whilst we were waiting for our mains and oh my God.. I mean, I know your cleaner doesn’t know what a hoover is, but does your cleaner know what a duster and a mop and bucket looks like?! Go into the ladies loos and wipe your finger along the skirting boards. I have not seen dust and filth like that in years. And it looks like it has been there YEARS. How do you clean an establishment on a daily basis and fail to notice the filth? The watermarks and stains all over the sanitary bins? That build up of dust and filth all over the skirting? It takes 30 seconds to wipe them over, both bins and skirting boards. I was stunned. If that’s the state of the loos and the floor downstairs is covered in food debris and the tables are sticky AFTER being cleaned, I wouldn’t want to see the state of the kitchens to be honest. PS do you even have an oven to cook the pies in? If so, please use it. Microwaves are...

Be prepared to wait 1 hour 20 minutes for 2 burgers and a child's meal. What a joke of an establishment. I wouldn't even give a star if I didn't have to. We booked in advance, arrived and the place was so busy, we got sat down and was told to order at the bar which took 15 minutes in a queue. We then waited 1 hour 20 minutes for 2 burgers and a child's pasta to come out. We chased this up 3 times with members of staff. We questioned why tables around us had their meals before us when they arrived after we had ordered, we were told the kitchen is so busy they're getting orders out as the food is cooked, which makes no sense because surely you'd go by order and our food should of been ready well before the many tables around us who arrived well after we did. I think we were forgotten about, or the system in the kitchen clearly does not work. If we hadn't already paid we would of walked out. Our 3 year old was so hungry and it then meant we had to delay when she could have her medicine due to not being able to take it with food. Terrible service. This is just a typical Sunday in May, we aren't even in peak summer yet so I dread to think how this pub would cope with the demand then. We put a complaint in to the waitress and all we got back was a sorry. Its not good enough. I would only recommend coming here if the place is empty. The pub obviously can't cope with the demand.

Horrendous visit on a warm day spent sat in a pub waiting for general pub food, nothing fancy, nothing special. Will not return.

I should add I have looked at the reviews left on tripadvisor and they are all the same as mine which is most disappointing to know that this is a problem ongoing since last year and beyond, why do you request feedback if you then do not do anything about it? You obviously need more staff or to stop serving food when it is busy if you cannot keep up with the demand, it's obvious greed, taking peoples money and then expecting them to wait...
