Review of The Dragonfly Maze, Bourton-on-the-Water
Tucked away in the enchanting village of Bourton-on-the-Water, The Dragonfly Maze is a hidden gem that blends whimsy, wonder, and a touch of mystery into one unforgettable experience. Unlike any ordinary hedge maze, this cleverly designed attraction combines traditional puzzling with the magic of an Edwardian-style treasure hunt, culminating in a delightful final challenge that rewards sharp observation and playful curiosity.
As you navigate the neatly manicured pathways, you’re not just trying to find your way out—you’re on a quest. Scattered throughout the maze are 14 beautifully crafted clues, each one a visual riddle or artistic detail that adds another layer to the journey. The joy of solving each clue is matched only by the excitement of piecing them together at the end to unlock the maze’s charming central surprise.
The maze is thoughtfully designed, appealing to visitors of all ages. Children will be thrilled by the adventure, while adults will appreciate the intelligence behind its structure and the serene beauty of the surroundings. It’s compact enough to explore without exhaustion, yet intricate enough to feel like a real challenge.
Whether you're a family looking for a fun activity, a couple enjoying a weekend in the Cotswolds, or simply a lover of unique experiences, The Dragonfly Maze delivers enchantment in spades. Read moreWe, 2 adults, loved this maze. If it were only a maze, I would have been very bored. However, they had 14 different locations you had to find in the maze. Each of the first 13 gave you clues, so when you arrived at the last location, you could uncover the dragonfly. We got lucky as when we arrived, we got right in. The lady at the desk was very helpful and friendly. She also keeps track of how many people are in the maze, so it's not overrun.
To those to visit: When you find a clue or figure one out, please don't shout them out. We knew many already, but it takes the fun away from the challenge when you have kids and adults, shouting them out. Maybe the business could hang a sign or something to suggest this?
The very back row has vines with thorns, so we needed to use a little caution in the area. They were out of the way of kids, at least.
Affordable and nice way to sepnd...
Read moreIt's a really great idea and really well thought out but the only disappointing part was getting to the centre after getting all the clues and nothing monitoring the flow of people in and out of the room. Some people were impatient so we're going in whilst others had only just gone in and not letting the others have the opportunity to then discover the Dragonfly properly, so it takes away from the experience a little. There should possibly be some sort of system in place, having only one entrance and exit to the room and when a group are in the room there needs to be something to indicate this so people wait before going in. Other than this it was pleasant and the staff were really friendly and...
